Abstract: ABSTRACT ECO-FRIENDLY TILE ADHESIVE COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF PREPARATION The disclosure provides a tile adhesive comprising: (a) a blend of 2.5 to 23% by weight of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) with respect to the 5 composition, 2.5 to 24% by weight of Fly Ash with respect to the composition, and 20 to 24% by weight of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) with respect to the composition; (b) at least one thickener; and (c) at least one viscosity modifier. The present disclosure also provides a method of preparing the tile adhesive composition as disclosed herein. The present disclosure further provides a method 10 of installing ceramic or vitrified tiles on a surface by applying the tile adhesive composition as disclosed herein. 24
I/We Claim:
1. A tile adhesive composition comprising:
(a) a blend of 2.5 to 23% by weight of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
5 (GGBFS) with respect to the composition, 2.5 to 24% by weight of Fly Ash with
respect to the composition, and 20 to 24% by weight of Ordinary Portland Cement
(OPC) with respect to the composition;
(b) at least one thickener; and
(c) at least one viscosity modifier.
10 2. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the composition
further comprises silica sand.
3. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in claim 2, wherein the silica sand
has a weight percentage in the range of 40 to 60% with respect to the composition.
4. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the viscosity
15 modifier has a weight percentage in the range of 0.01 to 0.05% with respect to the
composition.
5. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein viscosity
modifier is selected from the group consisting of silicate-based viscosity modifier,
polyethoxy based viscosity modifier, and polyacrylamide-based viscosity modifier.
20 6. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the thickener
has a weight percentage in the range of 0.05 to 0.1% with respect to the
composition.
7. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the thickener
is methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose (MHEC).
25 8. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in claim 1, further comprises at
least one additive selected from the group consisting of a dispersing agent, antisagging agent, defoamer, re-dispersible polymer powder, wetting agent, shrinkage
reducing agent, accelerators, and combinations thereof.
9. The tile adhesive composition as claimed in any one of the claims 1-8,
30 wherein the composition provides a tensile adhesion strength of at least 0.5MPa as
per standard BIS 15477-2019, a shear adhesion strength of at least 1 MPa as per
22
standard BIS 15477-2019, a compressive strength i
