Abstract: A frameless switch assembly including at least one rocker (102), at least one operating panel (104), and at least two cover strips (106) is disclosed. The frameless switch assembly (100) may include a plurality of edges (108) formed at a periphery of the at least one operating panel (104), and at least one rocker (102) extending towards the plurality edges (108) of the at least one operating panel (104). The at least two cover strips (106) extending towards the plurality of edges (108) of the at least one operating panel (104), and the at least one operating panel (104) disposed adjacent to the at least two cover strips (106), wherein the at least one operating panel (104) and the at least two cover strips (106) are of equal length.

DESC:FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present disclosure generally relates to a switch assembly. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a frameless switch assembly.

BACKGROUND

Commonly, electrical switches are employed for operating a wide range of appliances by controlling a flow of current to such appliances. In particular, the electrical switches are employed in electrical circuits to divert or interrupt the flow of current toward the appliances, thereby switching-ON or switching-OFF such appliances.

Existing switch assemblies include a covered housing, an operating panel, a rocker etc. The operating panel is adapted to be pivotally moved relative to the covered housing, upon applying a pushing force on the operating panel. The operating panel is adapted to be pressed/pushed to move the rocker into the covered housing of the switch assembly. However, the existing configuration of the switch assembly has limitations. The existing covered housing of the switch assembly contributes to an additional material cost, which increases the overall cost of the switch assembly. Thus, to overcome the abovementioned problem, many technological solutions have been developed that are insufficient and cannot fulfill the user requirements.

Hence, in view of the above, there is an immense need for a configuration of the switch assembly that eliminates the above-mentioned problem while reducing the cost to the user.

SUMMARY

This summary is provided to introduce a selection of concepts, in a simplified format, that are further described in the detailed description of the invention. This summary is neither intended to identify key or essential inventive concepts of the invention and nor is it intended for determining the scope of the invention.

In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a frameless switch assembly including at least one rocker, at least one operating panel, and at least two cover strips are disclosed. The frameless switch assembly may include a plurality of edges formed at a periphery of the at least one operating panel, and at least one rocker extending towards the plurality edges of the at least one operating panel. The at least two cover strips extending towards the plurality of edges of the at least one operating panel, and the at least one operating panel disposed adjacent to the at least two cover strips.

The at least one operating panel may have a plurality of protrusions positioned on either side of the at least one operating panel. The plurality of protrusions may be snap-fitted into at least two snap-locks of the at least one rocker. It may be noted that the plurality of protrusions extends perpendicular to the either side of the at least one operating panel. The at least one operating panel may be pushed towards the at least one rocker, such that, the plurality of protrusions may be locked within the at least two snaps of the at least one rocker.

The present disclosure ensures a simple configuration with the plurality of protrusions is snap-fitted into at least two snap-locks of the at least one rocker. Further, at least one operating panel and the at least two cover strips are of equal length as compared to the existing switch assembly. This configuration also eliminates the covered housing, thus reducing the additional material cost of the frameless switch assembly.

The at least one operating panel may make the frameless switch assembly more compact and visually appealing. Also, the interchangeability and the positioning of the at least one operating panel in both positions (inverted and upright) enables uniform production of the at least one operating panel and also makes the process of installation simple for the at least one operating panel.

To further clarify the advantages and features of the present invention, a more particular description of the invention will be rendered by reference to specific embodiments thereof, which is illustrated in the appended drawings. It is appreciated that these drawings depict only typical embodiments of the invention and are therefore not to be considered limiting of its scope. The invention will be described and explained with additional specificity and detail with the accompanying drawings.

Figure 1 illustrates an assembled view of a frameless switch assembly 100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 2 illustrates a front view of the frameless switch assembly 100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 3 illustrates an exploded view of the frameless switch assembly100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 4 illustrates a perspective view of at least one operating panel 104 of the frameless switch assembly 100, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. For the sake of brevity, Figures 1 to 4 are described together.

The present disclosure discloses the frameless switch assembly 100 which may be employed in one of without any limitation: houses, corporate buildings, and similar premises for operating various electronic devices and electrical appliances, such as household appliances, laptops, computers, etc. Further, the frameless switch assembly 100 may be employed to switch-ON and/or switch-OFF an operation of the electrical appliances or the electronic devices. The frameless switch assembly 100 may be adapted to be mounted on an installation surface, for example, a wall, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.

Referring to Figures 1 to 4, the frameless switch assembly 100 may include, but is not limited to, one or more rockers 102 and at least one operating panel 104. In an embodiment, the at least one rocker 102 may be supported on a mounting plate 112, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. In an embodiment, the at least one operating panel 104 may be supported on the at least one rocker 102. Further, the at least one operating panel 104 may be attached to the mounting plate 112.

In an embodiment, the frameless switch assembly 100 may include a plurality of edges 108 formed at a periphery of the at least one operating panel 104, and at least one rocker 102 extending towards the plurality edges 108 of the at least one operating panel 104. In such embodiment, the at least two cover strips 106 extending towards the plurality of edges 108 of the at least one operating panel 104. The at least one operating panel 104 disposed adjacent to the at least two cover strips 106, wherein the at least one operating panel 104 and the at least two cover strips 106 are of equal length.

In an embodiment, the at least one operating panel 104 may be embodied in a rectangular shape, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. In another embodiment, the at least one operating panel 104 may be embodied in any other shape, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.

The at least two cover strips 106 may be embodied in a rectangular shape, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. In another embodiment, the at least two cover strips 106 may be embodied in any other shape, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. The at least two cover strips 106 are adapted to cover an area adjacent to the at least one operating panel 104 and the at least two cover strips 106 are attached to the mounting plate 112. In such embodiment, wherein the at least one operating panel 104 and the at least two cover strips 106 are adapted to conceal the mounting plate 112 ensuring the safety of the user.

The at least one rocker 102 is adapted to be accommodated in a cavity 114 defined by the mounting plate 112, without departing from the scope of the present disclosure. In such embodiment, the mounting plate 112 is affixed to an external structure (not shown in the figure).

Figures 5a-5b illustrate different partially exploded views of the frameless switch assembly, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The at least one operating panel 104 may have a plurality of protrusions 116 positioned on either side of the at least one operating panel 104. The plurality of protrusions 116 may be snap-fitted into at least two snap-locks 118 of the at least one rocker 102. It may be noted that the plurality of protrusions 116 extends perpendicular to the either side of the at least one operating panel 104. The at least one operating panel 104 may be pushed towards the at least one rocker 102, such that, the plurality of protrusions 116 may be locked within the at least two snap-locks 118 of the at least one rocker 102.

In one example, one end of the at least one operating panel 104 may be adapted to be pushed/pressed to move in a downward direction with respect to the installation surface. Further, the at least one operating panel 104 may be adapted to pivotally move with respect to the mounting plate 112 in the plurality of directions to actuate the at least one rocker 102. The actuation of the at least one rocker 102 results in the operation of the frameless switch assembly 100 in one of the ON state and the OFF state.

As would be gathered, the present disclosure ensures a simple configuration of the at least one operating panel 104 adapted to be supported on the at least one rocker 102. Further, the present configuration includes at least one rocker 102 extending towards the plurality of edges 108 of the at least one operating panel 104 and at least two cover strips 106 extending towards the plurality of edges 108 of the at least one operating panel 104. Further, at least one operating panel 104 and the at least two cover strips 106 are of equal length as compared to the existing switch assembly. This configuration also eliminates the covered housing, thus reducing the additional material cost of the frameless switch assembly 100.

The at least one operating panel 104 may make the frameless switch assembly 100 more compact and visually appealing. Also, the interchangeability and the positioning of the at least one operating panel 104 in both positions (inverted and upright) enables uniform production of the at least one operating panel 104 and also makes the process of installation simple for the at least one operating panel 104.

While specific language has been used to describe the present subject matter, any limitations arising on account thereto, are not intended. As would be apparent to a person in the art, various working modifications may be made to the method in order to implement the inventive concept as taught herein. The drawings and the foregoing description give examples of embodiments. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that one or more of the described elements may well be combined into a single functional element. Alternatively, certain elements may be split into multiple functional elements. Elements from one embodiment may be added to another embodiment.
,CLAIMS:1. A frameless switch assembly (100), comprising:
at least one operating panel (104) comprising:
at least one rocker (102);
a plurality of edges (108) formed at a periphery of the at least one operating panel (104), and at least one rocker (102) extending towards the plurality of edges (108) of the at least one operating panel (104); and
at least two cover strips (106) extending towards the plurality of edges (108) of the at least one operating panel (104), and the at least one operating panel (104) disposed adjacent to the at least two cover strips (106), wherein the at least one operating panel (104) and the at least two cover strips (106) are of equal length.

2. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least two cover strips (106) are attached to a mounting plate (112).

3. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 2, wherein at least one operating panel (104) and the at least two cover strips (106) are adapted to conceal the mounting plate (112).

4. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least two cover strips (106) are adapted to cover an area adjacent to the at least one operating panel (104).

5. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one rocker (102) is adapted to be accommodated in a cavity (114) defined by the mounting plate (112).
6. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one rocker (102) comprises at least two snap-locks (118).

7. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at one operating panel (104) comprises a plurality of protrusions (116) positioned on either side of the at least one operating panel (104).

8. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein the plurality of protrusions (116) is adapted to be snap-fitted into at least two snap-locks (118) of the at least one rocker (102).

9. The frameless switch assembly (100) as claimed in claim 2, wherein the mounting plate (112) is affixed to an external structure.
