Abstract: A RADIATION DETECTION DEVICE FOR STREET LIGHT In an embodiment of the present disclosure a radiation detection device (106) is disclosed. The radiation detection device (106) is mounted on a streetlight (100). 5 The radiation detection device (106) comprises a radiation detector (202), data processing unit (204) and communication unit (206). The radiation detector (202) is configured to detect radiation emitted from a plurality of sources in a predefined area. The data processing unit (204) is connected to the radiation detector (202) and configured to analyse the radiation levels detected by radiation 10 detector (202) and compare the radiation levels with a predefined threshold. Communication unit (206) is connected to the data processing unit (204). Communication unit (206) is configured to transmit analysed radiation data to a remote monitoring system (208) and alert the remote monitoring system (208) if the radiation level is above the threshold value.
We claim:
1. A radiation detection device (106) comprising:
a radiation detector (202), wherein the radiation detector (202) is
configured to detect radiation emitted from a plurality of sources in a
5 predefined area;
a data processing unit (204) connected to the radiation detector
(202), wherein the data processing unit (204) is configured to analyse
the radiation levels detected by radiation detector (202) and compare
the radiation levels with a predefined threshold; and
10 a communication unit (206) connected to the data processing unit
(204), wherein the communication unit (206) is configured to transmit
analysed radiation data to a remote monitoring system (208) and alert
the remote monitoring system (208) if the radiation level is above the
threshold value.
15 2. The radiation detection device (106), as claimed in claim 1, wherein the
radiation detector (202) is selected from a group consisting of a
scintillation detector, a semiconductor detector and Geiger Counter.
3. The radiation detection device (106), as claimed in claim 1, wherein the
data processing unit (204) is configured to compare the detected radiation
20 levels to a predefined threshold and generate an alert if the detected
radiation exceeds the threshold.
4. The radiation detection device (106) as claimed in claim 1 comprises a
power unit, wherein a power supply from a solar panel is integrated with
the street light fixture (100), thereby providing sustainable energy to the
25 radiation detection device (106).
5. The radiation detection device (106) as claimed in claim 1, further
comprising a weatherproof casing enclosing the radiation detector (202),
the power unit the data processing unit (204), and communication unit
(206) thereby protecting the radiation detecting device (106) from
30 environmental elements such as rain, dust, and temperature fluctuations.
