Abstract: The disclosure provides a method (300) and a system (108) for automatically identifying a current state of an Outdoor Customer Premise Equipment (ODCPE) in a network. The method (300) includes monitoring (302) in real-time a data transmission rate corresponding to the ODCPE (212). The method (300) includes analyzing (304) the data transmission rate associated with the ODCPE (212) to determine a volume of data transmitted by the ODCPE (212) within a pre-defined time period. The method (300) includes identifying (306) the current state of the ODCPE (212) based on the volume of the data transmitted within the pre-defined time period using a pre-defined data transmission threshold, a first time frame, and a second time frame. WE CLAIM:
1. A method (300) for automatically identifying a current state of an Outdoor
Customer Premise Equipment (ODCPE) in a network (106), the method (300)
5 comprising:
monitoring (302) in real-time, by a processing engine (208), a data
transmission rate corresponding to the ODCPE (212);
analyzing (304), by the processing engine (208), the data transmission rate
associated with the ODCPE (212) to determine a volume of data transmitted by the
10 ODCPE (212) within a pre-defined time period; and
identifying (306), by the processing engine (208), the current state of the
ODCPE (212) based on the volume of the data transmitted within the pre-defined
time period using a pre-defined data transmission threshold, a first time frame, and
a second time frame.

2. The method (300) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the current state of the ODCPE
(212) is one of an active state, an idle state, and an inactive state.
3. The method (300) as claimed in claim 2, wherein identifying the current state
20 of the ODCPE (212) comprising:
performing, by the processing engine (208), a check to determine whether
the volume of the data transmitted by the ODCPE (212) within the pre-defined time
period is above the pre-defined data transmission threshold.
25 4. The method (300) as claimed in claim 3, further comprising:
upon determining the volume of the data being transmitted by the ODCPE
(212) within the pre-defined time period to be above the pre-defined data
transmission threshold, detecting, by the processing engine (208), the current state
of the ODCPE (212) to be the active state.

5. The method (300) as claimed in claim 3, further comprising:

upon determining the volume of the data transmitted by the ODCPE (212)
within the pre-defined time period to be below the pre-defined data transmission
threshold,
performing, by the processing engine (208), a check to determine
5 whether the volume of the data transmitted by the ODCPE (212) within the
