Abstract: A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTING TRAFFIC DENSITY In an embodiment of a present disclosure, a system for detecting traffic density is 5 disclosed. A plurality of sensors (302) are communicatively coupled with the system (202). The system (202) comprises an obtaining module (410), a computing module (412), a transmitting module (414), and a displaying module (416). The obtaining module (410) obtains data of a roadway in real time. The computing module (412) computes a real time traffic density based on obtained 10 data and length of roadway. Transmitting module (414) transmits the traffic density data to a central control system (308). Displaying module (416) displays traffic density data on a display unit in real time.
We claim:
1. A device for detecting traffic density (106) comprising:
a plurality of sensors (302), wherein a first set of sensors are
configured to detect presence of vehicles on a roadway, speed of vehicles
5 and type of vehicles and a second set of sensors are configured to capture
images and videos of a selected roadway;
a processing unit (304) coupled to the plurality of sensors (302),
wherein the processing unit (304) is configured to calculate, in real time,
a traffic density on the roadway based on a length of the roadway, a
10 movement patterns of the vehicles, speed of the vehicles and type of the
vehicles based on the detected vehicles and captured images and videos
on the roadway; and
a communication unit (306) connected to the processing unit (304),
wherein the communication unit (306) is configured to transmit the
15 calculated traffic density to a central control system (308) for analysis
and optimization.
2. The device for detecting traffic density (106) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the
device for detecting a traffic density (106) is mounted on streetlight fixture (100)
on the roadway.
20 3. The device for detecting traffic density (106) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the
plurality of sensors (302) are selected from a group consisting of inductive loop
sensors, radar sensors, infrared sensors, LIDAR sensors, ultrasonic sensors and
charged coupled device(s).
4. A system for detecting traffic density (202) comprising:
25 a plurality of sensors (302), wherein the plurality of sensors (302) are
configured to detect presence of vehicles on a roadway, speed of vehicles and
type of vehicles;
the system (202) is communicatively coupled with the plurality of
sensors (302), wherein the system (202) comprises:
30 an obtaining module (410), coupled with a processor (404)
