Abstract: A SYSTEM FOR STREETLIGHTING The present invention discloses a system for street lighting. The system (100) comprising a plurality of streetlight devices (102-1, 102-2,…., 102-n) and a central 5 control unit (206). Each of the street light device (102) comprises a plurality of sensors (202-1, 202-2,…..202-n) and a plurality of controllers (204-1, 204- 2,…….204-n). The plurality of sensors (202) detect presence of a moving entity (106), a speed of the moving entity (106) and a direction of the moving entity (106), thereby generating a presence signal, and a speed signal respectively. The plurality 10 of controllers (204-1, 204-2,…….204-n) are connected to the plurality of sensors (202) and configured to adjust an illumination level of the street light based on the presence signal and the speed signal. The central control unit (206) receives illumination level and the speed signal from each of the controller (204) and adjusts lighting across a roadway (108)
We claim:
1. A street lighting system (100) comprising:
a plurality of street light devices (102-1, 102-2,…., 102-n) mounted
along a roadway (108), wherein each of the street light device (102)
5 comprises:
a plurality of sensors (202-1, 202-2, …..202-n), wherein the
plurality of sensors (202) are configured to detect presence of a
moving entity (106), a speed of the moving entity (106) and a
direction of the moving entity (106), thereby generating a presence
10 signal, and a speed signal respectively;
a plurality of controllers (204-1, 204-2,…….204-n) connected
to the plurality of sensors (202), wherein the controller (204) is
configured to adjust an illumination level of the street light based on
the presence signal and the speed signal;
15 a central control unit (206), wherein the central control unit (206) is
configured to receive the illumination level and the speed signal from each
of the controller (204), at a predefined time interval, thereby controlling
intensity of light emitted from each street light device (102) along the path
of the moving entity (106), thereby adjusting lighting across a roadway
20 (108), wherein the predefined time interval is synchronized with a speed and
a direction of the moving entity (106).
2. The street lighting system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality
of sensors (202-1, 202-2, …..202-n) is selected from a group consisting of a motion
detector, radar sensor, infrared sensor, ultrasonic sensor, and speed sensor.
25 3. The street lighting system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the
controller (204) is further configured to dim each of the street light device (102)
when no moving entity (106) is detected within a predefined area and increase the
illumination when a moving entity (106) is detected within the predefined area.

4. The street lighting system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the
controller (204) is configured to adjust the illumination level of street light device
(102) based on the number of moving entities (106) detected, and wherein the
illumination level increases as the number of moving entities (106) increases.
