Abstract: An electrochemical sensor (10) for detection of hydrogen sulphide is disclosed. The sensor includes a sensor body (1) to accommodate an electrolyte. An electrode assembly (E) is positioned on a support structure that is disposed in the sensor body and includes a counter 10 electrode (6) disposed, a reference electrode (4), a sensing electrode (2). Each of the counter electrode, the reference electrode and the sensing electrode being separated by a separator. Further, the electrochemical sensor includes a cover member (8) being structured to seal the sensor body and is defined with a recess on a major surface facing away from the sensor body. A diffusion disc (16) is disposed in the recess defined in the cover member and is defined with 15 a vent of a pre-defined diameter. The diffusion disc is configured to diffuse gas into the sensor body. Fig.1 is the reference figure.
We Claim:
1. An electrochemical sensor (10) for detection of hydrogen sulphide, the electrochemical
sensor (10) comprising:
a sensor body (1) having an internal volume structured to receive and accommodate a
5 pre-defined volume of an electrolyte;
an electrode assembly (E) being positioned on a support structure (11) disposed in the
internal volume of the sensor body (1), the electrode assembly (E) comprising:
a counter electrode (6) disposed on the support structure (11) and in electrical
communication with one connecting pin of a plurality of connecting pins (3p, 4p, and
10 5p) extending from one end of the sensor body (1);
a reference electrode (4) disposed on the counter electrode (6) and in electrical
communication with another connecting pin of the plurality of connecting pins (3p, 4p,
and 5p);
a sensing electrode (2) disposed on the reference electrode (4) and being
15 exposed to ambient, the sensing electrode (2) being electrically coupled with remaining
connecting pin of the plurality of connecting pins (3p, 4p, and 5p), wherein each of the
counter electrode (6), the reference electrode (4), and the sensing electrode (2) being
separated by a separator (3, 5 and 7); and
a cover member (8) being structured to seal the sensor body (1), the cover member (8)
20 being defined with a recess on a major surface facing away from the sensor body (1); and
a diffusion disc (16) disposed in the recess, the diffusion disc (16) being defined with
a vent of a pre-defined diameter and being configured to diffuse gas into the sensor body
(1).
25 2. The electrochemical sensor (10) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sensor body (1)
includes an inner shell (1e), an outer shell (1c), and an intermediate shell (1d), the inner
shell (1e) being structured to store the electrolyte and the intermediate shell (1d) stacked
between the outer shell (1c) and the inner shell (1e).
30 3. The electrochemical sensor (10) as claimed in claim 3, wherein the intermediat
