Abstract: HUMAN GUIDANCE FOR A SELF-BALANCING VEHICLE The present invention relates to a system and method for human guidance for a self-balancing vehicle. In the present disclosure, the system comprises a sensor module for detecting variables indicative of the vehicle’s state, a state identification module for classifying the state, a control module for regulating the balancing system, and an indication module for providing human-perceptible cues/alert such as haptic, visual, auditory, and display-based indicators. In some embodiment the method involves intermittently checking the vehicle's state, providing user guidance cues, and predicting upcoming states to enhance user safety and operational efficiency; this allows the user to adjust the riding behaviour to suit the current state. The present invention ensures safe operation of self-balancing vehicles through real-time state monitoring. Fig. 1.
We Claim:
1. A system (100) for human guidance for a self-balancing vehicle, comprising:
- a sensor module (103) configured to detect one or more variables indicative
of the vehicle’s state;
- a state identification module (105) configured to classify the state of the
vehicle based on the sensor module’s inputs;
- a control system (107) configured to control the movement of information
and processes sensor data to determine the current and potential future state
including an impending state of the vehicle and to regulate the operation of
the balancing system based on the identified state or on user input (104) to
switch-on or switch-off the balancing system; and
- an indication module (109) that provides indication of the current and the
impending state of the vehicle.
2. The system (100) for human guidance for a self-balancing vehicle as in claim 1,
comprising one or more of: a haptic feedback device (109a), a sonar/audio emitter
(109b), a visual indicator (109c), a display screen (109d), each configured to
provide output in human-perceptible cues indicating the current state of the vehicle.
3. A system (100) for human guidance for a self-balancing vehicle as in claim 2,
comprising one or more of: a haptic feedback device (109a), a sonar/audio emitter
(109b), a visual indicator (109c), a display screen (109d), configured to provide
output in human-perceptible cues indicating the impending state of the vehicle.
4. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sensor module further includes an
attitude sensor, a vehicular velocity sensor, a precession sensor, and a flywheel
velocity sensor.
5. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the state identification module identifies
at least one of the following states: “powering up”, “standby”, “active”,
“deactivated”, and “approaching criticality”.

6. The system as claimed in claim 2, wherein the Sonar emitter produces distinct
sounds corresponding to different system states through speaker or a buzzer present,
that give the indication to the user to alert them for an action.
7. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the haptic feedback device comprises
vibration motors placed under the handle bar grip to notify users of state changes.
