System And Method To Produce Metal Fines From Low Grade Iron Ore

Abstract: “SYSTEM AND METHOD TO PRODUCE METAL FINES FROM LOW-GRADE IRON ORE” ABSTRACT A method to produce metal fines from low-grade iron ore. The method includes disposing low-grade iron ore fines in a fluidized bed. The fluidized bed is supplied with a gas-based reductant and air. The method further includes segregating the low-grade iron ore fines to iron-based compounds and gangue compounds, based on a variation in density of the low-grade iron ore fines in the fluidized bed, which is determined during a reduction of iron oxides in the low-grade iron ore fines. The method further includes forming a reduced iron product based on the segregated iron-based compounds and the gangue compounds. The method further include grounding the reduced iron product to liberate metallic oxides and gangue oxides from the reduced iron product and form a grounded iron product. The method further includes performing a magnetic separation on the grounded iron product to recover metal fines and a reject by-product. [Figs. 1-3]
