Spot Weldable Polyimide Polyaniline Emeraldine Salt (Pi Pani Es) Coating With High Corrosion Resistance

Abstract: ABSTRACT “Spot-weldable polyimide-polyaniline emeraldine salt (PI-PANI-ES) coating with high corrosion resistance” The present disclosure provides a steel or iron substrate comprising a polyimide-polyaniline emeraldine salt (PI-PANI-ES) coating. The incorporation of polyaniline emeraldine salt 5 increases the corrosion resistance of the coated substrate as well as renders the substrate spot-weldable. The present disclosure also provides a method for preparing the coated steel or iron substrate, a coating composition, and a method for preparing the coating composition. The coating composition comprises polyamic acid (PAA) and PANI-ES. The coating composition is applied to a steel or iron substrate and is cured to provide a substrate comprising polyimide-10 PANI-ES coating. The coated steel or iron substrates of the present disclosure are formable, post-paintable, spot-weldable, and show high corrosion resistance, Figure 1
