Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a method for manufacturing low alloyed case-hardened composite steel is provided. The method comprising with casting a steel ingot of desired composition. The method also comprises heating the steel ingot to a first predetermined temperature for a first predetermined time. The method further comprises forging the steel ingot in a first cooling medium. The method comprises reheating the forged steel to a second predetermined temperature for a second predetermined time in an inert atmosphere. The method also comprises quenching the reheated steel in a second cooling medium for a third predetermined time to obtain the quenched steel. The method comprises quenching in a third cooling medium and cooling the steel to room temperature to obtain a low alloyed case-hardened composite steel including pearlite and martensite microstructure exhibits surface hardness in the range of 470 – 690 HV and core hardness ranging from 250 – 290 HV.
