Abstract: The present disclosure provides a sacrificial zinc anode, comprising zinc directly recovered from zinc dross. The present disclosure also provides a method for preparing a sacrificial zinc anode from zinc dross comprising a) heating zinc dross to a temperature of about 600-620°C to obtain molten zinc and a residue; and b) pouring the molten zinc directly into a mold to cast the sacrificial zinc anode. The performance of the sacrificial zinc anode prepared according to the present disclosure is very close to the commercially available ones and hence may replace the same in various applications such as rebar protection, pipeline protection, storage tanks, ship hull and other metallic structures that require protection against corrosion.
