Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: “A MECHANISM FOR OPERATING A TAPHOLE DOOR OF A FURNACE” Present disclosure discloses a mechanism for operating a taphole door (3) of a furnace (20). 5 The mechanism includes a shaft (5) defined with a first end (14) coupled to the taphole door and a second end (15) fixed to a frame (2) of the furnace. The mechanism further includes at least one first arm (4) connected to the shaft at a first predetermined distance away from the first end, and at least one second arm (9) connected to the shaft at a second predetermined distance away from second end. The at least one first arm is pivotably connected to the taphole 10 door. In addition, the mechanism includes an actuator (11) coupled to the at least one second arm. Operation of the actuator pivotally displaces the at least one first arm about an axis (A-A) of the shaft to operate the taphole door between an open condition and a closed condition.
