Crash Barrier
Abstract: ABSTRACT “CRASH BARRIER” A crash barrier (10) comprising a beam (20) having a ‘Waveform-shaped’ 5 cross-section (22) that comprises at least one crest region (30) and at least one trough region (40). A thickness (T1) of the at least one crest region (30) is more than a thickness (T2) of the at least one trough region (40). The thickness (T1) of the at least one crest region (30) is in the range of 10 to 15 mm, and the thickness (T2) of the at least one trough region 10 (40) is in the range of 4 to 7 mm. The variable thickness of the beam (20) of the crash barrier (10) leads to a light-in-weight beam (20) and facilitates more energy absorption characteristics compared to currently used steel barriers, thereby enhancing the passenger’s safety during highway accidents. 15 FIG. 2
