Abstract: TITLE: “METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING DEFECTS ON A PINCH ROLL IN A HOT STRIP MILL” ABSTRACT 5 Present disclosure relates to a method and a system for detecting defects on a pinch roll (102) in a hot strip mill. The method comprising placing a robot (104) enclosed by a housing (106), on a transport roll (110), adjusting, the robot to align the robot with the pinch roll to inspect the pinch roll. The method includes illuminating at least a portion of the pinch roll through an illumination source provisioned in the robot and detecting the defects on the illuminated portion 10 (114) of the pinch roll through a sensor (116) provisioned in the robot. With timely detection of defects on the pinch roll, a good surface quality of the pinch roll is ensured and as a result, product or steel sheet obtained out of the pinch roll will also be free of defects and of good quality. 15 FIG. 1A is the representative figure.
