Method Of Manufacturing A Composite Material And Device For Assisting With Composite Material Manufacturing

Abstract: ABSTRACT METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND DEVICE FOR ASSISTING WITH COMPOSITE MATERIAL MANUFACTURING A method (200) of manufacturing a composite material is provided. The method (200) comprises preparing a plurality of fibres (C) of predetermined length (L) using a device (100). The device (100) assists in production of fibre (C) of predetermined length (L)from twisted yarns (Y). The method (200) also comprises introducing the plurality of fibres (C) of predetermined length (L) into the float-sink apparatus filled with a fluid to separate floating fibres from sinking fibres. The method (200) further comprises collecting and drying the sinking fibres. The method (200) comprises heating a polymer to a predetermined temperature. The method (200) further comprises introducing the dried sinking fibres into the heated polymer to prepare the composite material. The method (200) provides the mechanical strength of short coir fibre reinforced polylactic acid bio composite for external orthotic assistive devices by optimizing the critical fibre length, fibre loading, and fibre pre-treatment.
