Abstract: TITLE: A SYSTEM TO PRODUCE BRIQUETTES FOR AN ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE AND A METHOD THEREOF ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to a system (100) to produce briquettes for an electric arc furnace. The system (100) includes a storage section (102) configured to store sludge and manganese ore fines. The system also includes a conveying assembly (104). The conveying assembly (104) includes a first drag chain conveyor (104a) and a second drag chain conveyor (104b) oriented parallel to the first drag chain conveyor (104a). The system includes a controller (122) communicatively coupled with the first drag chain conveyor (104a), and the second drag chain conveyor (104b). The controller (122) is configured to determine composition of a homogenous mixture. The controller operates the first drag chain conveyor (104a) and the second drag chain conveyor (104b). The controller (122) further operates a mixer (110) to mix the sludge, the manganese ore fines, and the binder forming material to produce briquettes. FIGURE 1 is the representative figures.

1. A system (100) to produce briquettes for an electric arc furnace, the system (100) comprising:
a storage section (102) configured to: store sludge and manganese ore fines;
a conveying assembly (104) configured to selectively transfer the sludge and the manganese ore fines from the storage section (102) to a feeder (106), the conveying assembly (104) comprising:
a first drag chain conveyor (104a) configured to selectively transfer the sludge from the storage section (102) to the feeder (106); and
a second drag chain conveyor (104b) oriented parallel to the first drag chain conveyor (104a), the second drag chain conveyor (104b) configured to selectively transfer the manganese ore fines from the storage section (102) to the feeder (106);
a controller (122) communicatively coupled with the first drag chain conveyor (104a), and the second drag chain conveyor (104b), the controller (122) is configured to:
determine composition of a homogenous mixture including: the sludge, the manganese ore fines, and a binder forming material;
operate the first drag chain conveyor (104a) at a first predefined speed range to regulate a feed of the sludge based on the determined composition of the homogenous mixture;
operate the second drag chain conveyor (104b) relative to the first drag chain conveyor (104a) at a second predefined speed range to regulate a feed of the manganese ore fines based on the determined composition of the homogenous mixture;
operate a mixer (110) to mix the sludge, the manganese ore fines, and the binder forming material to produce briquettes.

The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the mixer (110) receives the sludge from the first drag chain conveyor (104a) and manganese ore fines from the second drag chain conveyor (104b), the mixer (110) configured to receive the predefined quantity of binder forming material for mixing the sludge, the manganese ore fines, and the binder forming material to produce a homogenous mixture.

3. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a briquetting unit (114) configured to receive the homogenous mixture from the mixer (110) to produce the briquettes.

4. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a diverter gate (112) provided at an outlet of the mixer (110), wherein the diverter gate (112) is operable to selectively restrict the flow the of the homogenous mixture from the mixer (110) to the briquetting unit (114).
5. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the diverter gate (112) is communicatively coupled with the controller (122), and the controller (122) is configured to:
determine a composition of the homogenous mixture from the mixer (110) based on at least one signal received from at least one sensor provided;
compare the determined composition of the homogenous mixture with a threshold range of composition; and,
operate the conveying assembly (104) to vary the feed rate of the sludge and the manganese ore fines for varying the composition of the homogenous mixture to lie within the threshold range of composition.

The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first drag chain conveyor (104a) includes a first drive unit (105a) communicatively coupled with the controller (122), and the second drag chain conveyor (104b) includes a second drive unit (105b) communicatively coupled with the controller (122), wherein the controller (122) is configured to:
selectively operate the first drive unit (105a) to traverse the first drag chain conveyor (104a) at the first predefined speed range and selectively operate the second drive unit (105b) to traverse the second drag chain conveyor (104b) at the second predefined speed range.
7. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the conveying assembly (104) comprises:
A third drag chain conveyor (107) coupled with the feeder (106) and the mixer (110), wherein the third drag chain conveyor (107) configured to transfer the sludge and the manganese ore fines from the feeder (106) to the mixer (110).
8. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a loss in weight feeder (108) configured to proportion the predefined quantity of cement and bentonite to use as binder forming material, wherein the binder forming material from the loss in weight feeder (108) is fed to the third drag chain conveyor (107).
9. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a chute () including at least one dispensing member (118) extending downwardly from the chute () at a predefined angle with respect to the chute (), wherein the at least one dispensing member (118) transfers the briquettes from the briquetting unit (114) to a curing section (120).

10. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sludge in the storage section (102) is from a gas cleaning plant.

11. The system (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second predefined speed range of the second drag chain conveyor (104b) is different from the first predefined speed range of the first drag chain conveyor (104a).

12. A method to produce briquettes for an electric arc furnace, the method comprising:
storing sludge and manganese ore fines in a storage section (102);
determining by a controller (122), a required compositional mixture of the sludge, the manganese ore fines, and a binder forming material;
operating by the controller (122), a first drag chain conveyor (104a) at a first predefined speed range to vary the feed rate of the sludge in response to the determined compositional mixture;
operating by the controller (122), a second drag chain conveyor (104b) independent to the first drag chain conveyor (104a), at a second predefined speed range for varying the feed rate of the manganese ore fines in response to the required compositional mixture;
operating by the controller (122), a mixer (110) to mix the sludge from the first drag chain conveyor (104a), the manganese ore fines from the second drag chain conveyor (104b), and the predefined quantity of the binder forming material to produce a homogenous mixture;
producing briquettes from the homogenous mixture in a briquetting unit (114).

13. A briquette for an electric arc furnace, produced by the method as claimed in claim 12, the briquette comprises:
an alloying composition (in wt.%) of:
manganese ore fines of 35-37 wt.%;
sludge from a gas cleaning plant of 52-54 wt.%;
cement of 7-10 wt.%;
bentonite of 1-3s wt.%;
balance being incidental impurities.
