A Supported Transition Metal Catalyst Comprising Coal/Coke Support And Processes Thereof

Abstract: ABSTRACT “A SUPPORTED TRANSITION METAL CATALYST COMPRISING COAL/COKE SUPPORT AND PROCESSES THEREOF” The present disclosure provides a process for preparing a supported transition metal 5 catalyst comprising at least one transition metal loaded on to a coal or coke support, comprising: a. grinding of the transition metal precursor with the coal or coke to obtain a blend; b. thermally treating the blend in an air oven, followed by crushing the 10 treated blend into a powder; and c. subjecting the powder to calcination to obtain the supported transition metal catalyst. The transition metal is selected from Ni, Co or a combination thereof, while the coal is waste coal, particularly, swamp breeze coal. The supported transition metal 15 catalyst prepared according to the process of the present disclosure is useful for producing renewable hydrogen, particularly by catalysing glycerol steam reforming process. Accordingly, the present disclosure utilizes waste coal or coke as a catalyst support in renewable hydrogen production.
