Specification

Description:TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001]
The present subject matter relates generally to a cover member, more particularly relates to the cover member for a ground touching member.
BACKGROUND
[0002]
Typically, automobile manufacturers need to cater to different market segments and users with product offerings and variants meeting the demands of 5 respective users. These could involve variants in the form of size, capacity of vehicle, range of usage, cost, ease of manufacturing, etc. From the manufacturer’s point of view, once a platform product is designed, the product economics would be viable based on the numbers sold. Therefore, it is always a challenge for automobile manufacturer to have vehicle layout and design which can be flexible 10 to cater to the variants and the demands and enable modified versions with minimum changes in the vehicle layout, assembly time, manufacturing set-up etc.
[0003]
The challenge is further complicated when the vehicle architecture / platform requirement needs to cater to different powertrains like Internal combustion engine (ICE) to an Electric Powertrain or a Hybrid powertrain. Thus, 15 transition towards the electric vehicles is a major challenge for the OEMs in terms of manufacturing, as it requires revamping of core processes to prepare for mass production of the electric vehicles.
[0004]
In today’s times, manufacturers are incorporating anti-lock braking systems, disc brakes, and similar technologies to enhance vehicle braking and 20
3
improve vehicle safety characteristics
. Additionally, changes to the vehicle's wheels are necessary, such as increasing the mounting portions for the disc assembly or widening the wheel, to improve braking.
[0005]
In the current scenario, automobile manufacturers aim to reduce the cost and weight of vehicles. However, a challenge arises in using the same type of wheel 5 for two different segments of vehicles. For example, when the user tends to go for off roading, that vehicle tends to have multiple provision to install braking systems, that requires mounting space on the wheel to provide braking system, further user tends to remove the extra installed braking system, due to this the wheel tends to have multiple mounting provisions left open, which is not desirable. Further, the 10 user tends to go for after market operations to install the enhanced braking systems, which also requires the multiple mounting portions to install braking systems.
[0006]
Furthermore, each wheel has specific attributes, such as mounting portions and diameter, designed for a specific vehicle. However, installing the same wheel in different vehicle segments becomes a challenge. 15
[0007]
Therefore, there is an essential requirement for a solution that addresses the above-mentioned problems with conventional wheel assembly.
