Abstract: The present invention provides a preload spacer (100, 200) comprising at least one incompressible component (102, 202); and at least one compressible component (104, 204), wherein said at least compressible component (104, 204) comprises a meshed structure. The preload spacer of the present invention is modular in configuration, which provides for increased operational lifetime, reduced costs and manufacturing, and ease in replacement. FIG. 1
1. A preload spacer (100, 200) comprising:
at least one incompressible component (102, 202); and
5 at least one compressible component (104, 204), wherein said at least
compressible component (104, 204) comprises a meshed structure.
2. The preload spacer (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein at least a first
compressible component (104-1) is located at a first end (106-1) of an
10 incompressible component (102) and at least a second compressible
component (104-2) is located at a second end (106-2) of the incompressible
component (102).
3. The preload spacer (100) as claimed in claim 2, wherein a first end (108) of
15 a first compressible (104-1) component is fixedly attached to the first end
(106-1) of the incompressible component (102); and a first end (110) of a
second compressible component (104-2) is fixedly attached to the second
end (106-2) of the incompressible component (102).
20 4. The preload spacer (100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein at least a part of
the first compressible component (104-1) is fixedly attached to at least a
part of the incompressible component (102) by laser welding; and at least a
part of the second compressible component (104-2) is fixedly attached to at
least a part of the incompressible component (102) by laser welding.

5. The preload spacer (200) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a first
incompressible component (202-1) is located at a first end (206-1) of at least
a compressible component (204) and a second incompressible component
(202-2) is located at a second end (206-2) of at least the compressible
30 component (204).

6. The preload spacer (200) as claimed in claim 5, wherein a first end (208) of
the first incompressible component (202-1) is fixedly attached to the first
end (206-1) of the compressible component (204); and a first end (210) of
5 the second incompressible component (202-2) is fixedly attached to the
second end (206-2) of the compressible component (204).
7. The preload spacer (200) as claimed in claim 6, wherein at least a part of
the first incompressible component (202-1) is fixedly attached to at least a
10 part of the compressible component (204) by laser welding; and at least a
part of the second incompressible component (202-2) is fixedly attached to
at least a part of the compressible component (204) by laser welding.
8. The preload spacer (100, 200) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the meshed
15 structure comprises a plurality of compressible waveforms, where each
waveform comprises a plurality of struts and a plurality of crowns, each
crown formed between two adjacent struts.
9. The preload spacer (100, 200) as claimed in claim 8, wherein adjacent
20 waveforms are connected to each other by any one of: a crown of a first
waveform is fixedly connected to a crown of a second adjacent waveform;
a strut of a first waveform is fixedly connected to a strut of a second adjacent
waveform; or a crown of a first waveform is fixedly connected to a strut of
a second adjacent waveform.

10. A differential assembly comprising at least a preload spacer (100, 200) as
claimed in claim 1.
