Method And System For Predictive Dispute Management For Payment Transactions

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for predictive dispute management for payment transactions. The method comprises receiving transaction data of the transaction being performed at a payment device from a plurality of input data sources. Further, the method comprises identifying missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data. Thereafter, the method computes a dispute score of the transaction by correlating the identifier missing data with a historical dispute data with the transaction. Thereafter, the method comprises predicting a dispute based on the dispute score for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction. [Fig. 6]

Claims

1. A method of facilitating dispute management associated with a transaction, the method comprising: receiving, by a dispute management system, transaction data of the transaction being performed at a payment device from a plurality of input data sources; identifying, by the dispute management system, missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data; computing, by the dispute management system, a dispute score of the transaction by correlating the identified missing data with a historical dispute data associated with the transaction; and predicting a dispute based on the dispute score for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction.

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of input data sources comprises at least one of a payment device log, a payment switch log, or a ledger log being involved while performing the transaction, and wherein the transaction data comprises at least one of payment device log data, ledger log data, or payment switch log data.

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein for identifying the missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data, the method further comprises: identifying the missing data based on transaction context, temporal attributes using transaction context analysis technique; generating a plurality of tokens using predefined technique, wherein the plurality of tokens indicate transaction related attributes; and determining a plurality of values corresponding to the plurality of tokens for each transaction data, wherein the plurality of values indicates presence or absence of the transaction related attributes. 39

The method as claimed in claim 3, further comprising: extracting one or more tokens, among the plurality of tokens, corresponding to one or more values indicating the absence of the transaction related attributes; and performing imputation on the one or more extracted tokens of the missing data by implementing at least one of: a probability condition analysis technique, or a temporal sequence analysis technique.

5. The method as claimed in claim 4, wherein the probability condition analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing preceding transactions and succeeding transactions.

6. The method as claimed in claim 4, wherein the temporal sequence analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing patterns of missing data occurring during a specific time period.

The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein for predicting the dispute for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction, the method further comprising: determining whether the transaction relates to a disputed transaction or a normal transaction by comparing the computed dispute score with a predetermined dispute threshold; classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction when the dispute score exceeds the predetermined dispute threshold; and upon classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction, generating an output comprising at least one of a transaction identifier (ID), the dispute score, a label, and a data-driven reason for the disputed transaction.

A dispute management system for facilitating dispute management associated with a transaction, comprising: a memory; 40 a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to: receive transaction data of the transaction being performed at a payment device from a plurality of input data sources; identify missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data; compute a dispute score of the transaction by correlating the identified missing data with a historical dispute data associated with the transaction; and predict a dispute based on the dispute score for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 8, wherein the plurality of input data sources comprises at least one of a payment device log, a payment switch log, or a ledger log being involved while performing the transaction, and wherein the transaction data comprises at least one of payment device log data, ledger log data, or payment switch log data.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 8, wherein to identify the missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data, the processor is further configured to: identify the missing data based on transaction context, temporal attributes using transaction context analysis technique; generate a plurality of tokens using predefined technique, wherein the plurality of tokens indicate transaction related attributes; and determine a plurality of values corresponding to the plurality of tokens for each transaction data, wherein the plurality of values indicates presence or absence of the transaction related attributes.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 10, wherein the processor is further configured to: extract one or more tokens, among the plurality of tokens, corresponding to one or more values indicating the absence of the transaction related attributes; and 41 perform imputation on the one or more extracted tokens of the missing data. by implementing at least one of: a probability condition analysis technique, or a temporal sequence analysis technique.

12. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 11, wherein the probability condition analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing preceding transactions and succeeding transactions.

13. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 11, wherein the temporal sequence analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing patterns of missing data occurring during a specific time period.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 8, wherein to predict the dispute for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction, the processor is further configured to: determine whether the transaction relates to a disputed transaction or a normal transaction by comparing the computed dispute score with a predetermined dispute threshold; classify the transaction as the disputed transaction when the dispute score exceeds the predetermined dispute threshold; and upon classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction, generate an output comprising at least one of a transaction identifier (ID), the dispute score, a label, and a data-driven reason for the disputed transaction.

A dispute management system for facilitating dispute management associated with a transaction, comprising: a receiving unit configured to receive transaction data of the transaction being performed at a payment device from a plurality of input data sources; a missing data identifying unit configured to identify missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data; 42 a dispute score computing unit configured to compute a dispute score of the transaction by correlating the identified missing data with a historical dispute data associated with the transaction; and a dispute prediction unit configured to predict a dispute based on the dispute score for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 15, wherein the plurality of input data sources comprises at least one of a payment device log, a payment switch log, or a ledger log being involved while performing the transaction, and wherein the transaction data comprises at least one of payment device log data, ledger log data, or payment switch log data.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 15, wherein to identify the missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data, the missing data identifying unit is further configured to: identify the missing data based on transaction context, temporal attributes using transaction context analysis technique; wherein the system further comprises: generate a plurality of tokens using predefined technique, wherein the plurality of tokens indicate transaction related attributes; and determine a plurality of values corresponding to the plurality of tokens for each transaction data, wherein the plurality of values indicates presence or absence of the transaction related attributes.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 16, further comprising: an extraction unit configured to extract one or more tokens, among the plurality of tokens, corresponding to one or more values indicating the absence of the transaction related attributes; and 43 an imputation performing unit configured to perform imputation on the one or more extracted tokens of the missing data. by implementing at least one of: a probability condition analysis technique, or a temporal sequence analysis technique.

19. The method as claimed in claim 18, wherein the probability condition analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing preceding transactions and succeeding transactions.

20. The method as claimed in claim 18, wherein the temporal sequence analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing patterns of missing data occurring during a specific time period.

The dispute management system as claimed in claim 15, wherein to predict the dispute for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction, the dispute prediction unit is further configured to: determine whether the transaction relates to a disputed transaction or a normal transaction by comparing the computed dispute score with a predetermined dispute threshold; classify the transaction as the disputed transaction when the dispute score exceeds the predetermined dispute threshold; and upon classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction, generate an output comprising at least one of a transaction identifier (ID), the dispute score, a label, and a data-driven reason for the disputed transaction.

method comprising:
receiving, by a dispute management system, transaction data of the transaction
being performed at a payment device from a plurality of input data sources;
identifying, by the dispute management system, missing data based on the
receipt of the transaction data;
computing, by the dispute management system, a dispute score of the
transaction by correlating the identified missing data with a historical dispute data
associated with the transaction; and
predicting a dispute based on the dispute score for facilitating the dispute
management associated with the transaction.
2. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of input data sources
comprises at least one of a payment device log, a payment switch log, or a ledger log
being involved while performing the transaction, and wherein the transaction data
comprises at least one of payment device log data, ledger log data, or payment switch
log data.
3. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein for identifying the missing data
based on the receipt of the transaction data, the method further comprises:
identifying the missing data based on transaction context, temporal attributes
using transaction context analysis technique;
generating a plurality of tokens using predefined technique, wherein the
plurality of tokens indicate transaction related attributes; and
determining a plurality of values corresponding to the plurality of tokens for
each transaction data, wherein the plurality of values indicates presence or absence of
the transaction related attributes.

4. The method as claimed in claim 3, further comprising:
extracting one or more tokens, among the plurality of tokens, corresponding to
one or more values indicating the absence of the transaction related attributes; and
performing imputation on the one or more extracted tokens of the missing data
by implementing at least one of: a probability condition analysis technique, or a
temporal sequence analysis technique.
5. The method as claimed in claim 4, wherein the probability condition analysis
technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing preceding
transactions and succeeding transactions.
6. The method as claimed in claim 4, wherein the temporal sequence analysis
technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing patterns of missing
data occurring during a specific time period.
7. The method as claimed in claim 1, wherein for predicting the dispute for
facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction, the method further
comprising:
determining whether the transaction relates to a disputed transaction or a normal
transaction by comparing the computed dispute score with a predetermined dispute
threshold;
classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction when the dispute score
exceeds the predetermined dispute threshold; and
upon classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction, generating an
output comprising at least one of a transaction identifier (ID), the dispute score, a label,
and a data-driven reason for the disputed transaction.
8. A dispute management system for facilitating dispute management associated
with a transaction, comprising:
a memory;

a processor coupled to the memory, wherein the processor is configured to:
receive transaction data of the transaction being performed at a payment
device from a plurality of input data sources;
identify missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data;
compute a dispute score of the transaction by correlating the identified
missing data with a historical dispute data associated with the transaction; and
predict a dispute based on the dispute score for facilitating the dispute
management associated with the transaction.
9. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 8, wherein the plurality of
input data sources comprises at least one of a payment device log, a payment switch
log, or a ledger log being involved while performing the transaction, and wherein the
transaction data comprises at least one of payment device log data, ledger log data, or
payment switch log data.
10. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 8, wherein to identify the
missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data, the processor is further
configured to:
identify the missing data based on transaction context, temporal attributes using
transaction context analysis technique;
generate a plurality of tokens using predefined technique, wherein the plurality
of tokens indicate transaction related attributes; and
determine a plurality of values corresponding to the plurality of tokens for each
transaction data, wherein the plurality of values indicates presence or absence of the
transaction related attributes.
11. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 10, wherein the processor
is further configured to:
extract one or more tokens, among the plurality of tokens, corresponding to one
or more values indicating the absence of the transaction related attributes; and

perform imputation on the one or more extracted tokens of the missing data. by
implementing at least one of: a probability condition analysis technique, or a temporal
sequence analysis technique.
12. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 11, wherein the probability
condition analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing
preceding transactions and succeeding transactions.
13. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 11, wherein the temporal
sequence analysis technique imputes the one or more extracted tokens by analyzing
patterns of missing data occurring during a specific time period.
14. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 8, wherein to predict the
dispute for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction, the
processor is further configured to:
determine whether the transaction relates to a disputed transaction or a normal
transaction by comparing the computed dispute score with a predetermined dispute
threshold;
classify the transaction as the disputed transaction when the dispute score
exceeds the predetermined dispute threshold; and
upon classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction, generate an output
comprising at least one of a transaction identifier (ID), the dispute score, a label, and a
data-driven reason for the disputed transaction.
15. A dispute management system for facilitating dispute management associated
with a transaction, comprising:
a receiving unit configured to receive transaction data of the transaction being
performed at a payment device from a plurality of input data sources;
a missing data identifying unit configured to identify missing data based on the
receipt of the transaction data;

a dispute score computing unit configured to compute a dispute score of the
transaction by correlating the identified missing data with a historical dispute data
associated with the transaction; and
a dispute prediction unit configured to predict a dispute based on the dispute
score for facilitating the dispute management associated with the transaction.
16. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 15, wherein the plurality
of input data sources comprises at least one of a payment device log, a payment switch
log, or a ledger log being involved while performing the transaction, and wherein the
transaction data comprises at least one of payment device log data, ledger log data, or
payment switch log data.
17. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 15, wherein to identify the
missing data based on the receipt of the transaction data, the missing data identifying
unit is further configured to:
identify the missing data based on transaction context, temporal
attributes using transaction context analysis technique; wherein the system
further comprises:
generate a plurality of tokens using predefined technique, wherein the
plurality of tokens indicate transaction related attributes; and
determine a plurality of values corresponding to the plurality of tokens
for each transaction data, wherein the plurality of values indicates presence or
absence of the transaction related attributes.
18. The dispute management system as claimed in claim 16, further comprising:
an extraction unit configured to extract one or more tokens, among the plurality
of tokens, corresponding to one or more values indicating the absence of the transaction
related attributes; and

classify the transaction as the disputed transaction when the dispute score
exceeds the predetermined dispute threshold; and
upon classifying the transaction as the disputed transaction, generate an output
comprising at least one of a transaction identifier (ID), the dispute score, a label, and a
data-driven reason for the disputed transaction.
