A Layered Semiconductor And A Method Of Doping A Layered Semiconductor

Abstract: A LAYERED SEMICONDUCTOR AND A METHOD OF DOPING A LAYERED SEMICONDUCTOR Present disclosure provides layered semiconductor and method for doping layered semiconductor. It comprises a semiconductor layer, a metal contact layer, and an insulating layer placed in proximity to the semiconductor layer. A UV light source is used to irradiate the insulating layer. Upon UV exposure, photoexcited electrons are released from the insulating layer and injected into the semiconductor layer. This optically induced charge transfer modulates the carrier concentration in the semiconductor, effectively doping it. As a result, the electrical characteristics of the junction between the semiconductor and metal layers, such as current flow and Schottky barrier height, can be dynamically tuned. This process enables nonvolatile and spatially selective doping without chemical treatments or high-temperature processes. The invention offers a reconfigurable and energy-efficient approach to enhance device performance in 2D semiconductor electronics, including transistors and optoelectronic components. Figure 4
