“An Optical Device For Determining Optical Power Of A Human Eye”

Abstract: An optical device (100) for determining optical power of a human eye is disclosed. The device (100) includes a holder (110) defined with a recess (114) and a hole (112). A plurality of discs (120) is integrated in the recess (114) of the holder (110) and are with a plurality of apertures 10 (122a) being capable of aligning with the hole (112) of the holder (100). A lens (122) is positioned in each of the plurality of apertures (122a) of each the plurality of discs (120), where each lens (122) in the holder (110) are of non-identical optical power, and the lens (122) in each of the plurality of discs (120) are indexable to be selectively aligned with the hole (112) of the holder (110) to determine the optical power of the human eye. 15 Figure 1 is a representative figure.

Specification

Description:PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED SPECIFICATION , Claims:PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED SPECIFICATION

We Claim:
1. An optical device (100) for determining optical power of a human eye, the device (100)
comprising:
5 a holder (110) defined with a recess (114) and a hole (112);
a plurality of discs (120) integrated in the recess (114) of the holder (110), each
of the plurality of discs (120) being defined with a plurality of apertures (122a), and
each aperture of the plurality of apertures (122a) being capable of aligning with the hole
(112) of the holder (100);
10 a lens (122) positioned in each of the plurality of apertures (122a) of each the
plurality of discs (120), wherein each lens (122) in the holder (110) are of non-identical
optical power, and the lens (122) in each of the plurality of discs (120) are indexable to
be selectively aligned with the hole (112) of the holder (110) to determine the optical
power of the human eye.
15
2. The optical device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of discs
(120) are positioned concentrically about a central collar (111).
3. The optical device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of discs
20 (120) are positioned equidistantly to the adjacent disc (120) of the plurality of discs
(120).
4. The optical device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of discs (120) in
the holder (110) includes lenses with optical power ranging from 0 to ± 4.
25
5. The optical device (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a plurality of flaps (116)
pivotally coupled with the holder (110), wherein the plurality of flaps (116) is
selectively operable to close and open the hole (112) on the holder (110).
30 6. The optical device (100) as claimed in claim 1, comprising a sliding lever (152) slidably
coupled to a link member (130) and the holder (110).
7. The optical device (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of discs
(120) are defined with a plurality of micro-slots (124), and the plurality of micro-slots
(124) is engageable with the holder (110) for selectively aligning the plurality of discs
(120) with the hole (112) of the holder (110)
8. The optical device (100) as claimed in claim 7, wherein the plurality of micro-slots
5 (124) on the peripheral region of each of the plurality of discs (120) are engageable
with a locking member defined in the holder (110).
9. A method of determining optical power of a human eye, the method comprising:
positioning a holder (110) of an optical device (100) relative to a subject’s eye,
10 wherein the holder (110) includes a plurality of discs (120) configured to accommodate
a lens (122) of non-identical optical power;
rotating the plurality of discs (120) in the holder (110) for selectively aligning
the lens (122) with the subject’s eye and indexing the lens (122) in the plurality of discs
(120) to determine an optical power of the human eye based on indexing of the lens in
15 the plurality of discs.
