DESC:TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present subject matter relates to an automotive industry, more particularly relates to a brake assembly for a vehicle.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Typically, OEMs tend to provide adjustable brake lever to caters users of different anthropometry. Further, the parking brake lever is required while the user intended to park the vehicle. Therefore, it is a challenge for the designers to provide both the features of adjustable brake lever and parking brake lever within an ergonomical reach without compromising on the workability of these features.
[0003] One of the challenges faced in such a design is hand reach variation for parking brake lever while it is designed to function properly at all conditions of adjusted positions of brake lever. Another challenge is variations in functionality of brake lever (too tight or too loose) while it is designed to access consistent hand reach to brake lever. In view thereof, there is a compromise in achieving consistencies and reliabilities of both hand reach and functionalities of the brake lever. In other words, it has been difficult to design a brake assembly with both parking brake lever and brake lever adjustment mechanism owing to accessibility issue of hand reach to parking brake lever at different adjustment positions of main brake lever, issues in parking brake functionalities at different adjustment positions of adjustable brake lever and technical compromise in addressing conflicting customer requirements owing to either one or both of the above-mentioned issues.
[0004] Further, it is a challenge for the designers to ensure the reliability of both the parking brake lever and adjustable brake lever when packaged on the compact handlebar. It is observed that due to multiple child parts the packaging of the brake assembly at the handlebar become challenge owing to manufacturing tolerances. Therefore, complex manufacturing controls are required which increases the manufacturing cost of the vehicle. Further, during service special skills and tools are required for dismantling and assembling the brake assembly.
[0005] In view of the foregoing, there is a need felt to overcome at least the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior arts and provide a simple, cost-effective and reliable brake assembly with features of both the parking brake lever as well as brake lever adjusting mechanism which ensures accurate braking operations at all positions of the brake lever.
[0006] The above information disclosed in this background section is only for enhancement of understanding of the background of the disclosure and therefore it may contain information that does not form the prior art that is already known in this country to a person of ordinary skill in the art.
