Abstract: A structural color rendering device (10) comprises a surface information acquisition unit (11) that acquires surface information including differences (?h) each between the heights of top parts in an uneven structure of the surface of a physical body and interval distances (?d) each between the adjacent top parts, an information mapping unit (12) that maps the surface information onto a rendered object, an optical path difference calculation unit (14) that uses the surface information to calculate an optical path difference at each position on the rendered object and outputs calculated optical path difference values (?i, ?j), an importing unit (13) that imports a reference table which stores each value of a second term of a calculation formula for stimulus value of the XYZ color system having a first term that does not depend on the optical path difference and the second term that depends on the optical path difference in association with each optical path difference (?imin-?imax, ?jmin-?jmax), a stimulus value calculation unit (15) that acquires a value corresponding to each calculated optical path difference value (?i, ?j) from the reference table and uses the calculation formula and the value to calculate the tristimulus value in the XYZ color system, and an RGB conversion unit (16) that converts the tristimulus values into RGB values.
