Description:FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to security arrangements for protecting computers, components thereof, programs or data against unauthorized activity. Particularly, the present invention relates fingerprint biometric machine that does not have a display or keyboard and is useful in recording attendance of employees, thereby saving electricity.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] In every organization, the management of attendance for employees is a complex but necessary task, as the presence of officials in offices directly impacts productivity and efficiency. Traditionally, attendance was managed through registers where officials marked their attendance upon arrival in office. However, supervision of this system was difficult and liable to incorrect information being entered into the system. Late arrival and early departure of employees was a common occurrence across organizations and created a situation where the sincere and punctual employees felt discouraged and de-incentivized.
[0003] Several offices have implemented electronic attendance systems in recent times, where the manual entries into the registers have been replaced by electronic-attendance marked through smart-cards or biometric systems. These systems have allowed easy compilation and scrutiny of attendance data leading to better supervision and monitoring. However, such systems are often stand-alone systems and do not permit easy sharing of attendance data across various levels within the system, except with the officials authorized for monitoring the attendance information. Such systems are also often implemented independently by various offices leading to duplication of cost and effort. Therefore, every organization starts to develop and implement centralized system for monitoring attendance of their respective employees.
[0004] In a patent application IN202021012315A discloses a process of attendance recording and tracking without using an active internet connection during the process of attendance recording. A registered admin user generates a code in his mobile electronic communication device using an attendance recording application and writes it on a board or announces it verbally. A plurality of users using the same attendance recording application in a mobile electronic communication device enters the announced code. Whenever an active internet is available, a server records and tracks the attendance of the registered admin and a plurality of users based on the matching the entered code, geo-location of the registered admin and the plurality of users and from the biometric identification of the registered admin and the plurality of users
[0005] Currently, the biometric machines used are always switched on and the display consumes maximum power. In remote areas, there is a power backup issue in remote areas. Additionally, the finger print sensor alone is not sufficient to function as an attendance machine. Furthermore, when a group of employees goes out of station for project work, it becomes difficult to record their fraud free attendance.
[0006] In a patent application IN202021012315A discloses a process of attendance recording and tracking without using an active internet connection during the process of attendance recording. A registered admin user generates a code in his mobile electronic communication device using an attendance recording application and writes it on a board or announces it verbally. A plurality of users using the same attendance recording application in a mobile electronic communication device enters the announced code. Whenever an active internet is available, a server records and tracks the attendance of the registered admin and a plurality of users based on the matching the entered code, geo-location of the registered admin and the plurality of users and from the biometric identification of the registered admin and the plurality of users.
[0007] In another patent application IN202441068258A discloses biometric attendance system. The present invention discloses a biometric attendance system that utilizes a fingerprint sensor for user authentication, an LCD display for user interface and feedback, and GSM communication for data transmission and remote management. The system captures and stores biometric data during enrollment, compares it with real-time input during attendance recording, and logs attendance information. The integrated GSM module enables communication with a central server for data synchronization, remote monitoring, and control. However, the present invention does not require a display unit that helps to save electricity.
[0008] In view of the challenges associated with the above state-of-art, there is a need for a SMS biometric system that does not use any display unit and keyboard. The present technology aims to recording attendance of employees working in remote area having power supply problem, thereby saving electricity.

[0010] Another objective of the invention is to save power as the biometric system do not use monitors.
[0011] Another objective of the invention is to provide better security.
[0012] Another objective of the invention is to provide fraud free attendance especially when a group of employees goes out of station for their project work.
[0013] Yet another objective of the invention is to extract exact attendance details of the employees through SMS.
[0014] Yet another objective of the invention is conveyable to carry if employees are working from some different place.

[0033] The processor (104) is further connected to the light emitting diode (LED) (108). The light emitting diode (LED) (108) glows to indicate successful or unsuccessful attendance recordings after receiving the message from the portable biometric finger print sensor (102). The light emitting diode (LED) (108) glows green to indicate successful attendance recording, while the light emitting diode (LED) (108) glows red to indicate unauthorized or unsuccessful attempts.
[0034] Figure 1 also illustrates a SIM module (110) linked to the processor (104). In the present invention the sim module (110) helps to send and receive SMS message regarding the attendance of the employees working in an organization. The sim module (110) also helps to send SMS messages to the administrator (116) related to the event description. The SIM module (110) used in the present invention works seamlessly without web or internet services.
[0035] In the present invention the plurality of terminals (112) as illustrated in figure 1, are used in place of a monitor to save power. The plurality of terminals (112) includes but not limited to a mobile, network terminal, personal computer (PC), and laptop. The system manager (114) interconnected to the biometric system (100) via the plurality of terminals (112) to enter user’s information via plurality of terminals (112).
[0036] Figure 1 also illustrates the wireless communication module (116). The plurality of terminals (112) are linked to the wireless communication module (116). The system manager (114) enters user’s information using the wireless communication module (116) via the plurality of terminals (112).
[0037] The wired and wireless communication device includes but not limited to a Bluetooth channel, a Wi-Fi channel, USB channel and LAN. The system manager (114) enters users’ information via a mobile device or personal computer, connecting to the system through a Bluetooth channel or any other terminal using the Wi-Fi channel.
[0038] The method of working of the biometric system as claimed in claim 1, comprising:
• Waiting for insertion of fingerprint on the portable biometric finger print sensor (102);
• Taking place of finger insertion event;
• Examining the fingerprint belongs to of a system manager or to a normal user;
• The attendance record is then saved to the storage device;
• If the fingerprint detected is of the system manager, then the main menu is displayed on the used terminal by the system manager;
• Then the system-generated event is further generated;
• If the fingerprint detected is of a normal user then, attendance is recorded along with a timestamp;;
• Then SMS messages is sent to the administrator with event descriptions; and
• The light emitting diode (LED) glow up to show successful or unsuccessful trial.
