Description:FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to the field of health and nutrition, more specifically to the formulation and preparation of vegetable-based beverages. In particular, it pertains to a method for preparing a broccoli juice composition aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle by providing essential nutrients, antioxidants, and bioactive compounds naturally present in broccoli.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
References which are cited in the present disclosure are not necessarily prior art and therefore their citation does not constitute an admission that such references are prior art in any jurisdiction. All publications, patents and patent applications herein are incorporated by reference to the same extent as if each individual or patent application was specifically and individually indicated to be incorporated by reference.
Cancer stands among the top global death-causing conditions because it affects millions of people each year and creates substantial problems for healthcare systems worldwide. The common cancer treatment methods chemotherapy and radiation therapy together with surgery remain widely used yet generate substantial negative effects on patients. The growing interest in natural remedies intends to support conventional treatments by improving patient recovery and reducing potential harm for patients while offering added preventive value. Research has validated broccoli juice as a medicinal substance containing sulforaphane which demonstrates strong anticancer potential. Sulforaphane supports detoxification, reduces inflammation, and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. When combined with other natural ingredients—bay leaf, onion, garlic, ginger, black pepper, coriander leaves, chilli flakes, salt, and olive oil—the potential health benefits are enhanced through synergistic effects.
Garlic and onion are known for their sulfur compounds, which may inhibit tumor growth. Ginger possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help combat oxidative stress. Black pepper increases the absorption of beneficial plant compounds, while coriander leaves add further antioxidant support. Chilli flakes, through capsaicin, may aid in suppressing cancer cell proliferation. Olive oil, rich in healthy fats and polyphenols, has anti-inflammatory and immune-supporting effects. Together, these ingredients can be blended into a therapeutic juice or tonic aimed at supporting the body during cancer treatment. While not a replacement for medical care, this natural formulation offers a complementary strategy that may help reduce side effects, support immunity, and promote overall well-being in individuals affected by cancer.
Several patents issued for bevarages but none of these are related to the present invention. Patent US7303770B2 relates to cancer chemoprotective food products derived from cruciferous sprouts, particularly broccoli, that are rich in glucosinolates. These compounds, converted into isothiocyanates, induce Phase 2 detoxification enzymes which help reduce carcinogens in mammals. The sprouts are harvested before the 2-leaf stage for maximum protective potency. The patent focuses on cancer chemoprotective food products but is limitated by soecific plant slections, extraction methods, and the requirement to maintain high phase 2 enzyme-including potential without inducing phase 1 enxyeme activity.
Another patent US9433654B2 relates to a composition using a non-aqueous broccoli seed extract rich in sulforaphane for prostate cancer treatment or prevention. The extract is stabilized with acacia gum or maltodextrin and administered orally in capsule or tablet form at doses of 2 to 200 mg daily. It also details an extraction and stabilization method for optimized efficacy in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications. The patent is limited by the specific use of non-germinated broccoli seed extracts, the required encapsulation method, and the fixed dosage range for prostate cancer treatment.
Another patent US20220354922A1 relates to describe extracellular vesicles derived from ginger (Zingiber officinale) with anticancer properties. These vesicles can penetrate cancer cells and inhibit their proliferation, invasion, and migration. The invention provides a pharmaceutical and health-functional food composition using these vesicles for cancer prevention or treatment, along with a method for isolating and purifying them. The patent faces challenges in extraction complexity, stability issues, limited clinical validation, scalability concerns, and narrow application scope.
Another patent US11167002B2 discloses a medicine made from untreated garlic extract (OPRGE) which shows potential to treat malignancies together with infections and Type 2 diabetes. The pharmaceutical agent exists as either liquid or dry powder preparations that healthcare professionals deliver through intravenous (IV) or intraperitoneal (IP) routes and tumor-related administration. The patent explains garlic extraction techniques for preparing pharmaceutical products while identifying therapeutic applications. The approved patent encounters multiple issues including extraction difficultly and instability alongside the requirement for validation tests and limited delivery methods and the need for larger production.
Another patent US20080095869A1 relates to Medical applications of tNOX enzyme inhibition occur by mixing five to ten parts of cruciferous vegetables with Capsicum plants at appropriate concentration levels. The combined extract produces superior responses because it boosts both sulforaphane components from broccoli and capsaicinoids found in Capsicum plants to enhance cancer reactions. The invention defines both ingredient procurement methods and optimizes ingredient ratios to explain medical applications in cancer management. The patent encounters development stage obstacles which include enhancing ingredient formulations and maintaining formulation stability along with regulatory permission achievements and proof of clinical effectiveness consistency.
