Specification

Description:A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR FACILITATING INDEPENDENT LIVING AND CAREGIVER COMMUNICATION FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] This development relates to healthcare, social welfare, and systems of digital aids. More specifically, it pertains to the companion system called “CarePal” designed to give elderly people aid in performing their routine chores, offering them emotional companionship, social interactions, and providing healthcare support.
BACKGROUND ART
[0002] The world’s population is aging, especially in metropolitan areas, and this means that there is an increasing number of elderly people facing certain challenges. A large number of elderly people encounter mobility challenges that make physical travel nearly impossible. They often do not have any form of assistance to help them with basic tasks and errands. In addition, many elderly people experience a lack of social interaction and emotional support, which increases the feeling of social isolation. In addition, many elderly people do not have adequate support for the day-to-day supervision and active management of chronic healthcare conditions.
[0003] Current healthcare systems lack a holistic and integrated approach to eldercare. A good example of this is the elderly medical alert systems which only works in the case of an emergency. Elderly nursing services, while clinically structured to serve the elderly, lack holistic approaches to emotional and social care. In the same way, assistance with household chores often consists of providing help with the bare minimum tasks without any form of social interaction.
[0004] This invention describes a problem that is very specific, but at the same time is very urgent. This is because a solution is more readily available. This is counterintuitive, but that does not matter. All that matters is that the solution solves the problem described above, and combines daily self-care, genuine social interaction, and health-related support. Each part is a standalone piece, but they and the technology described integrates the universal systems care. This allows the elderly to embrace technology and removes the active reliance elderly individuals have on human caregivers.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
[0005] The primary goal of this invention is the development of a trusted companion platform referred to as “CarePal” which is targeted towards elderly individuals. Such a platform is intended to enhance their quality of life by offering comprehensive support.
[0006] Another goal is to provide daily support services such as transport, household chores, running errands, and a comprehensive emotionally and socially engaging companion through interaction features.
[0007] Automated health support systems for reminders of medication, doctor's appointments, general wellness checking, and health-related services are also part of the objectives. The platform also enables safety, reliability, and trust by offering verified service providers and digital records.
[0008] This goal is aimed to provide and address the core objectives of the elderly which are physical, social, and emotional elements of their wellbeing through practical help and real companionship.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0009] This embodiment of the invention consists of a mobile and web application called “CarePal,” a digital companion platform to offer comprehensive multi-tiered services to the elderly and efficiently provide holistic mobile healthcare.
[0010] The companion module of the platform links elderly users with professional caregivers or volunteers that assist them with social, emotional, and interactive activities. This primary healthcare module also caters to daily activities such as a grocery shopping, chores, and commuting via a daily assistance module. For crucial health management, a dedicated healthcare support module provides medication and medical appointment reminders, as well as health monitoring alert notifications.
[0011] The platform uses a verifiable digital trust system with authenticated caregiver IDs, transparent service histories, and feedback rating systems to ensure digital trust. For critical but calm scenarios, family, doctor, and emergency service contacts are linked and can be accessed instantly. In essence, CarePal serves as a trusted partner and in contrast to the traditional elder nursing or household services, integrated healthcare systems that provide mobile comprehensive and holistic elderly care that caters to their physical, emotional, and social health.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0012] Various modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiment thereof has been shown by way of example in the figures and will be described below. It should be understood, however, that it is not intended to limit the disclosure to the forms disclosed, but on the contrary, the disclosure is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternative falling within the scope of the disclosure.
[0013] The terms “comprise,” “comprising,” or any other variations thereof used in the disclosure, are intended to cover a non-exclusive inclusion, such that a device, system, assembly that comprises a list of components does not include only those components but may include other components not expressly listed or inherent to such system, or assembly, or device. In other words, one or more elements in a system or device proceeded by “comprises… a” does not, without more constraints, preclude the existence of other elements or additional elements in the system or device.
[0014] This embodiment of the invention offers CarePal, a comprehensive elderly care solution that combines technology, social interaction, and healthcare on one digital platform. CarePal has various modules that are connected together.
[0015] It starts with a mobile or web application where elderly users can register easily. One key feature is the strong trust system for the providers of services. Caregivers and volunteers are verified rigorously with KYC processes and background screenings. This system ensures digital trust scores for each caregiver based on reputation so all users can be assured of their reliability.
[0016] The Companionship Services module seeks to assist with loneliness and social isolation. It provides emotional support through in-person visits and video or text chat sessions with verified caregivers. The platform’s caregivers also encourage social and cognitive engagement through storytelling and sharing relevant cultural materials and featuring memory games. Users can schedule daily assistance for basic tasks like shopping and also for more advanced tasks like meal preparation and commuting. Users with low technical competencies are aided through a voice-active interface integrated into this module.
[0017] For effective health management, the platform incorporates a dedicated Healthcare Support module. This feature aids with medication and doctor’s appointment scheduling, caregiving, and facilitates basic wellness tracking with the option to connect to health wearable devices. It is configured to send family or healthcare provider alerts in case of any irregularities. As an additional feature, the platform is equipped with the Emergency Support feature, which is an SOS button that with a single touch connects the user to family and doctor or emergency services and logs location data a for prompt responsive action.
[0018] To ensure the platform can be adopted at scale and the user base can grow, a cloud-based backend infrastructure has been put in place. It is intended that the platform will be interfacing with hospitals, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other social service organizations which will aid to the wider the caregiver network and further the outreach of the platform.
[0019] Although embodiments for the present subject matter have been described in language specific to structural features, it is to be understood that the present subject matter is not necessarily limited to the specific features described. Rather, the specific features and methods are disclosed as embodiments for the present subject matter. Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system/component of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the scope of the present subject matter.
