Lithium Secondary Battery Having Improved Safety Against Internal Short Circuit And Lithium Secondary Battery System Therefor

Abstract: The present invention relates to a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery system therefor. The lithium secondary battery is provided with a negative electrode having a predetermined volume resistivity, thus allows flow of a predetermined current, while providing insulation on the surface of the negative electrode, in the event of an internal short circuit, and can therefore prevent the internal short circuit from causing a meltdown and/or rapid heat generation in the lithium secondary battery. In addition, the lithium secondary battery system according to the present invention comprises the above-mentioned lithium secondary battery of the present invention to prevent a meltdown and rapid heat generation in the event of an internal short circuit, thus can preemptively control the operation before a thermal runaway occurs in the lithium secondary battery, and prevent additional meltdowns and/or thermal runaways occurring in adjacent lithium secondary batteries, and can therefore improve safety problems due to internal short circuits.
