Weld Structure Of Battery Can And Cap And Battery Cell Employing Same

Abstract: The present invention relates to a weld structure of a battery can and cap and a battery cell employing the structure. The battery cell comprises: a can comprising a bottom member and a sidewall member which is connected to the bottom member and extends in the axial direction; an electrode assembly accommodated inside the can; and a cap covering an open end portion provided at one axial end portion of the sidewall member. A current collector plate which is connected to an electrode of the electrode assembly and is disposed in the open end portion has a terminal connection part provided on the outer edge of the current collector plate in the radial direction wherein the terminal connection part extends outward in the axial direction and is in contact with the inner circumferential surface of the sidewall member so as to be electrically connected. In a state where at least a portion of the terminal connection part is interposed in the axial direction between the inner circumferential surface of the side wall member and the outer circumferential surface of the cap the inner circumferential surface of the side wall member and the outer circumferential surface of the cap are welded to form a weld part.
