Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a lithium secondary battery, comprising the steps of: preparing a battery cell comprising a cathode, an anode, and an electrolyte, the cathode comprising an overlithiated manganese-based oxide of which the manganese content with respect to total metals excluding lithium is greater than 50 mol% and of which the ratio (Li/Me) of the number of moles of lithium to the number of moles of total metals excluding lithium is greater than 1; and activating the battery cell by charging and discharging under pressure, wherein, in the step of activating, the charging is performed in a constant current mode upto the charge end voltage, followed by charging in a constant voltage mode, wherein the charge end voltage is greater than 4.35 V.
