Abstract: The present invention relates to a secondary battery and a secondary battery manufacturing method. The secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly; a can; and a cap assembly, the cap assembly comprising a safety vent and a current interrupt device (CID), wherein a recess in a recessed shape is formed in one of the safety vent and the current interrupt device (CID), a protrusion protruding in a shape corresponding to the recess is formed on the other one of the safety vent and the current interrupt device (CID), and as the recess and the protrusion are press-fitted together, the safety vent and the current interrupt device (CID) are connected in a predetermined area. Thereby, it is possible to enable airtight coupling between the safety vent and the current interrupt device (CID), and prevent a leak path of an internal electrolyte, etc. from being formed at a coupling portion between the safety vent and the current interrupt device (CID) and improve the quality of a battery. In addition, even in the case where a weak coupling has occurred between the safety vent and the current interrupt device (CID), a weak fastening defect can be easily identified by means of X-ray inspection, etc., and thus it is possible to prevent defects from occurring.
