Weld Structure Of Battery Can Current Collecting Plate And Cap And Battery Cell Employing Same

Abstract: This battery cell comprises: a can having an electrode assembly accommodated therein; and a cap. The can is provided with: a bottom member; and a side wall member that is connected to the bottom member and extends upward from the bottom member in an axial direction. The cap covers an open end of the can the open end being provided at the opposite end from the bottom member. The current collecting plate is connected in the vicinity of the open end to an electrode tab of the electrode assembly. The current collecting plate includes: a central portion electrically connected to the electrode tab; and a circumferential portion in electrical contact with the inner surface of a side wall of the can in the radial direction. The circumferential portion is also in contact with a lower portion of the cap. The radial inner surface of the side wall member the radial outer surface of the cap and the circumferential portion of the current collecting plate are all welded to each other.
