Abstract: The present invention provides a lithium secondary battery comprising: a positive electrode; a negative electrode; a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and a non-aqueous electrolyte, wherein the positive electrode includes a positive electrode active material, the positive electrode active material includes a lithium transition metal oxide represented by chemical formula A, the non-aqueous electrolyte includes a lithium salt, an organic solvent, and additives, the additives include a first additive, and the first additive includes vinylethylene carbonate. [Chemical formula A] Li1+x[NiaCobMncM1d]O2+w In chemical formula A, 0=x=0.5, a+b+c+d = 1, 0.5=a=0.7, 0=b=0.15, c=1-a-b-d, 0=d=0.1, 0=b/a=0.2, 1=a/c=3, 0=w=1, and M1 is at least one selected from among W, Cu, Fe, V, Cr, Ti, Zr, Zn, Al, In, Ta, Y, La, Sr, Ga, Sc, Gd, Sm, Ca, Ce, Nb, Mg, B, and Mo.
