Cathode Active Material, And Cathode And Lithium Secondary Battery Comprising Same

Abstract: The present invention relates to a cathode active material comprising a lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide of a large diameter and a lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide of a small diameter, wherein the lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide is in the form of at least one of a single particle consisting of one nodule and a similar-single particle as a composite of 30 or less nodules, the lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide of a large diameter has DL50 of 6.5-12.0 ?, the lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide of a small diameter has DS50 of 1.1-4.0 ?, and the lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide of a large diameter satisfies expression 1. The present invention provides a lithium secondary battery in which, by applying the cathode active material to a cathode, cracking of cathode active material particles may be suppressed and production of powder may be reduced, so that the lithium secondary battery may have improved lifespan characteristics and a reduced amount of gas generation. [Expression 1] 1.0 = DL50 / DLmean = 2.0 wherein DLmean refers to a mean particle diameter value of nodules measured from a scanning electron microscope image of the lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide of a large diameter, and DL50 refers to a 50 % volume cumulative distribution value of the lithium-nickel-based transition metal oxide of a large diameter.
