Abstract: This plated steel material has a steel material and a plating layer provided on the surface of the steel material, wherein the average chemical composition of the plating layer is, in mass%, Al: more than 5.0% to 30.0%, Mg: more than 4.0% to 12.5%, B: more than 0.01% to 1.00%, Zn: more than 60.00%, the plating layer contains, by area ratio in a scanning electron microscope field of view of a cross-section of the thickness direction of the plating layer, 10% to less than 60% of an MgZn2 phase, 10% to less than 50% of an Al-Zn phase, 10% or more of an [Al/MgZn2/Zn ternary eutectic structure], 0.02 to less than 3.00% of borides, and remainder structures, and the borides are one or more of AlB2, AlB12, CrB2, TiB2, VB2, and ZrB2.
