Polyvinylidene Fluoride For High Purity Water Supply Applications

Abstract: The invention relates to a process that results in a vinylidene fluoride polymer composition with a reduced level of residual impurities, notably total oxidizable carbon (TOC) and fluoride ions F-. Such improvements can be accomplished in a cost-effective manner through the combination of a polymer recipe and the use of a washing step, especially a dewatering extruder. The invention also relates to the applications of such a vinylidene fluoride polymer in high purity applications.
