Polythiol Compositions And Method For Preparing Same From Terpenes Or Terpene Derivatives

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a polythiol from a terpene or terpene derivative, and to polythiol compositions and novel polythiols. The method comprises the following steps: a) reacting a terpene or a terpene derivative with a thiocarboxylic acid in the presence of oxygen (O2) and of at least one organic solvent so as to obtain a reaction medium comprising a polythioester and the at least one solvent; b) deprotecting the polythioester obtained in step a) so as to obtain a polythiol; wherein step a) and step b) are carried out in one-pot synthesis.
