System Architecture For Functional Safety In An Active Steer By Wire System

Abstract: Disclosed is a force feedback system for use in steer-by-wire vehicles. The force feedback system provides active tactile feedback to the vehicle operator and provides safety control over the steer-by-wire vehicle. Also disclosed is a method of providing safe return of the steering control system of a steer-by-wire vehicle to a center position.
