Abstract: This wire rod has a predetermined chemical composition, in which: when the diameter of the wire rod is noted as D, the metal structure in a 1/4 D part, which is a part found in a cross section taken perpendicular to the length direction of the wire rod, at the depth of 1/4 D from the surface of the wire rod, includes bainite which accounts for an area ratio of 70% or more; the ratio of 0.05% yield strength to tensile strength (0.05% yield strength/tensile strength) is 0.72-0.40 × (C%) or more, where (C%) is the content of C in mass%; and a value obtained by dividing the standard deviation of Vickers hardness in a cross section perpendicular to the length direction of the wire rod by the average value of Vickers hardness is 0.150 or less.
