Piston Of A Membrane Filtration System

Abstract: A piston assembly for use in a fluid circulation system comprises a piston housing separated by a piston (70) in a first chamber and a second chamber. The piston (70) fluidly separates the first chamber from the second chamber, and is moveable to change the volumes of the first and second chambers. At least one chamber comprises two fluid ports, spaced apart from each other. The piston comprises a passage (82a), that connects the two fluid ports when the piston (70) is moved to one side of the first chamber, while sealing the first chamber from the second chamber. Further disclosed is a piston (70) for use with a piston assembly. The piston (70) permits pressurisation of each chamber while providing a bypass passage through the two fluid ports.
