[0019] The present invention relates to a kind of drawing sheet holder, and more specifically to an assistive device for art work used for holding a drawing sheet in an aligned and secured manner based on dimensions of the sheet, as per user specified orientation, ensuring precision, preventing misalignment and slippage, and enhancing overall drawing accuracy and quality.
[0020] Referring to Figure 1, a perspective view of an assistive device for art work is illustrated, comprising a rectangular platform 101 configured with plurality of suction cups, a rectangular plate 102 hinged with a longitudinal edge of the platform 101 by means of a pair of hinge joint, a touch interactive display panel 103 installed on the plate 102, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 104 installed on the platform 101, plurality of inverted L-shaped extendable rods 105 arranged on periphery of the plate 102, a suction unit 106 attached with free end of each the rods 105, plurality of LED (light emitting diode) lights 107 arranged on periphery of the plate 102, plurality of boxes 108 arranged on sides of the plate 102 and a pair of telescopic bars 109 arranged between the platform 101 and plate 102.
[0021] The device proposed herein includes a rectangular platform 101 that is developed to be positioned on a fixed surface where an assistance in art work is required to the user. The rectangular platform 101 as mentioned herein serves as a structural support to various components associated with the device, wherein the housing is made up of material that includes but not limited to stainless steel, which in turn ensures that the device is of generous size and is light in weight.
[0022] Multiple suction cups arranged underneath the platform 101 secures the platform 101 over the surface in a secured manner. The multiple suction cups used herein are made up of silicone rubber that easily eliminates pressure inside the suction cup and creating a vacuum between the cup and the surface which creates an air-tight seal, resisting any slipping of the platform 101 in order to affix the platform 101 with the surface.
[0023] The longitudinal edge of the platform 101 is arranged with a rectangular plate 102 by means of a pair of hinge joint that is accessed by the user for accommodating a drawing sheet, to be utilized for the painting/artistic work.
[0024] In order to activate functioning of the device, a user is required to manually switch on the device by pressing a button positioned on the platform 101, wherein the button used herein is a push button. Upon pressing of the button, the circuits get closed allowing conduction of electricity that leads to activation of the device and vice versa.
[0025] Upon activation of the device by the user, an inbuilt microcontroller embedded within the platform 101 and linked to the switch generates a command to activate a touch interactive display panel 103 installed on the plate 102 for enabling the user to provide input commands regarding a requirement of securing the sheet over the plate 102. The touch interactive display panel 103 as mentioned herein is typically an (Liquid Crystal Display) screen that presents output in a visible form. The screen is equipped with touch-sensitive technology, allowing the user to interact directly with the display using their fingers. A touch controller IC (Integrated Circuit) is responsible for processing the analog signals generated when the user inputs details regarding a requirement of securing the sheet over the plate 102. The touch controller is typically connected to the microcontroller through various interfaces which may include but are not limited to SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) or I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit).
[0026] Based on input commands of the user, a laser sensor integrated on the plate 102 detects placement of the sheet over the plate 102. The laser sensor consists of an emitter and receiver, and works on the principle of measuring the time delay between the laser beam to travel to the plate 102 and back. The sensor emits a light towards the surface of plate 102 and when the laser beam hits the surface of the plate 102, the beam reflects back towards the receiver of the sensor. Upon detection of reflected beam by the sensor, the sensor precisely measures the time taken for the laser beam to travel to and back from the plate 102’s surface. The sensor detects placement of the sheet over the plate 102 and the detected placement is then converted into electrical signal, in the form of current, and send to the microcontroller. Upon receiving the signals, the microcontroller processes the signal to determine placement of the sheet over the plate 102.
[0027] Based on the determined placement of the sheet over the plate 102, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 104 installed on the platform 101 is actuated by the microcontroller to determine dimensions of the sheet. The imaging unit 104 comprises of an image capturing arrangement including a set of lenses that captures multiple images in surrounding of the plate 102, and the captured images are stored within memory of the imaging unit 104 in form of an optical data. The imaging unit 104 also comprises of a processor that is integrated with artificial intelligence protocols, such that the processor processes the optical data and extracts the required data from the captured images. The extracted data is further converted into digital pulses and bits and are further transmitted to the microcontroller. The microcontroller processes the received data and determines dimensions of the sheet.
[0028] In accordance to the determined dimensions of the sheet, multiple inverted L-shaped extendable rods 105 arranged on periphery of the plate 102 is actuated by the microcontroller to get extended/ retracted as per the determined dimensions for positioning a suction unit 106 attached with free end of each the rods 105, over corners of the sheet. The extension/retraction of the inverted L-shaped extendable rods 105 is powered pneumatically by the microcontroller by employing a pneumatic unit associated with the rods 105, including an air compressor, air cylinders, air valves and piston which works in collaboration to the in extension and retraction of the rods 105. The pneumatic unit is operated by the microcontroller, such that the microcontroller actuates valve to allow passage of compressed air from the compressor within the cylinder, the compressed air further develops pressure against the piston and results in pushing and extending the piston. The piston is connected with the rods 105 and due to applied pressure the rods 105 extends and similarly, the microcontroller retracts the rods 105 by closing the valve resulting in retraction of the piston. Thus, the microcontroller regulates the extension/retraction of the rods 105 in order to position the suction unit 106 over corners of the sheet.
[0029] The microcontroller then actuates the suction unit 106 for creating a negative pressure over the sheet, in view of getting adhere on the sheet. The suction unit 106 mentioned above comprises of a bowl-shaped cup alike entity having two openings in which one side of the opening has a larger diameter and another side has a smaller diameter wherein the smaller diameter of the cup is attached with a suction pump via conduit that is interlinked with the microcontroller. On actuation, the suction pump creates a negative pressure which in turn a vacuum that is created inside the cup in order get adhered on the sheet for securing the sheet with plate 102 in view of allowing the user to execute artistic work on the sheet.
[0030] In case the user provides input commands regarding a requirement of adjustment in angle of the sheet with respect to the platform 101 via the display panel 103. Based on the input commands of the user, the microcontroller actuates a pair of telescopic bars 109 arranged between the platform 101 and plate 102 to get extended/retracted as per the user specified alignment to alter angle of the sheet with respect to the user. The microcontroller regulates extension/retraction of the telescopic bars 109 in the same manner as the inverted L-shaped extendable rod to get extended/retracted as per the user specified alignment to alter angle of the sheet with respect to the user.
[0031] A light dependent resistor integrated on the plate 102 to detect light intensity in the surroundings. The LDR resistor comprises of a photodiode, wherein the photodiode is capable of measuring intensity of illuminance when beam of surrounding light strikes the photodiode, then the photodiode has a tendency to loosen electrons causing an electric current to flow. More the intensity of light, stronger is the electric current generated by the resistor which is further transmitted to the microcontroller. The LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) resistor sends the acquired data to the microcontroller then the microcontroller analyses the received data to monitor light intensity in the surroundings.
[0032] The microcontroller further processes the determined data to compare the monitored light intensity to a threshold level stored within a database linked with the microcontroller. In case of receding of the detected intensity beyond the threshold level, the microcontroller activates multiple LED (light emitting diode) lights 107 arranged on periphery of the plate 102 to get illuminate for enhancing visibility in surrounding, in view of providing convenience to the user while doing the artistic work.
[0033] The LED 107 is a two-lead semiconductor light source also known as p-n junction which produce the lighting when constant voltage is supplied across the diode. When the voltage is supplied across the diode, the electrons recombine with the electrons hole in the diode which result in conversion of electron into photons which is another form of light, thereby enhancing visibility in surrounding, in view of providing convenience to the user while doing the artistic work.
[0034] The plate 102 is designed with multiple boxes 108, each designated for storing various colors, painting tools, and artistic gadgets. These boxes 108 are organized to facilitate easy access for the user, ensuring that different supplies are neatly separated and readily available. This layout aids in efficient and effective management of artistic materials, allowing the user to seamlessly switch between different tools and colors while working on their creative projects.
[0035] Lastly, a battery is installed within the device which is connected to the microcontroller that supplies current to all the electrically powered components that needs an amount of electric power to perform their functions and operation in an efficient manner. The battery utilized here, is preferably a dry battery which is made up of Lithium-ion material that gives the device a long-lasting as well as an efficient DC (Direct Current) current which helps every component to function properly in an efficient manner. As the device is battery operated and do not need any electrical voltage for functioning. Hence the presence of battery leads to the portability of the device i.e., user is able to place as well as moves the device from one place to another as per the requirements.
[0036] The present invention works best in the following manner, where the rectangular platform 101 as mentioned in the invention is developed to be positioned on the fixed surface where the assistance in art work is required to the user. The rectangular plate 102 is accessed by the user for accommodating the drawing sheet, to be utilized for the painting/artistic work. Upon activation of the device by the user, the microcontroller activate the touch interactive display panel 103 installed on the plate 102 for enabling the user to provide input commands regarding the requirement of securing the sheet over the plate 102. Based on input commands of the user, the laser sensor integrated on the plate 102 detects placement of the sheet over the plate 102. Based on the determined placement of the sheet over the plate 102, the artificial intelligence based imaging unit 104 is actuated by the microcontroller to determine dimensions of the sheet. In accordance to the determined dimensions of the sheet, multiple inverted L-shaped extendable rods 105 is actuated by the microcontroller to get extended/ retracted as per the determined dimensions for positioning the suction unit 106 attached with free end of each the rods 105, over corners of the sheet in view of getting adhere on the sheet. In case the user provides input commands regarding the requirement of adjustment in angle of the sheet with respect to the platform 101 via the display panel 103. Based on the input commands of the user, the microcontroller actuates the pair of telescopic bars 109 to get extended/retracted as per the user specified alignment to alter angle of the sheet with respect to the user.
