The safety system (100) comprises a plurality of sensors (102) configured to detect one or more parameters associated with motion of the vehicle. The safety system (100) further comprises at least one controller (104) communicatively coupled with the plurality of sensors (102). The at least one controller (104) is configured to: receive the one or more parameters from the plurality of sensors (102); detect an unintended motion of the vehicle based at least on the received one or more parameters; and generate an alert signal based at least on the detection. Further, the safety system (100) comprises an alert unit (106). [0001] This invention generally relates to a field of automotive safety systems and, in particular, relates to a system and a method to detect unintended reverse motion or rollaway conditions in a vehicle, and alert a driver to prevent the unintended reverse motion or the rollaway conditions in the vehicle.

1. A safety system (100) for a vehicle, comprising:
a plurality of sensors (102) configured to detect one or more parameters associated with motion of the vehicle;
at least one controller (104) communicatively coupled with the plurality of sensors (102), wherein the at least one controller (104) is configured to:
receive the one or more parameters from the plurality of sensors (102),
detect an unintended motion of the vehicle based at least on the received one or more parameters, and
generate an alert signal based at least on the detection; and
an alert unit (106) communicatively coupled to the at least one controller (104), wherein the alert unit (106) is configured to:
receive the alert signal from the at least one controller (104), and
trigger an alarm for a user based at least on the received alert signal.
2. The safety system (100) for the vehicle as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plurality of sensors (102) comprises at least a gyroscopic sensor, an odometer sensor and a wheel rotation sensor
