Abstract: ABSTRACT TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD A tire monitoring system (100) is disclosed. The tire monitoring system (100) comprises at least one infrared (IR) sensor (102) mounted in close proximity to a tire (202) to face a side profile (226) of the tire (202). The at least one IR sensor (102) is configured to emit infrared light towards the tire tread surface (204) and detect the emitted infrared light reflected from the tire tread surface (204). Further, a processing unit (104) configured to analyze the detected infrared light to identify variations in reflection pattern of the infrared light; determine a tire tread wear value; compare the determined tire tread wear value to a predefined threshold value; and generate an alert signal if the tire tread wear value exceeds the predefined threshold value. Further, an alert unit (106) configured to trigger an alert based at least on the generated alert signal to notify a user. <>
Description:TIRE MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHOD
FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE
[0001] This invention generally relates to a field of automotive safety technology, and in particular, to a tire monitoring system and a method for providing alerts to a user to ensure vehicle safety.
BACKGROUND
[0002] The subject matter discussed in the background section should not be assumed to be prior art merely as a result of its mention in the background section. Similarly, a problem mentioned in the background section or associated with the subject matter of the background section should not be assumed to have been previously recognized in the prior art. The subject matter in the background section merely represents different approaches, which in and of themselves may also correspond to implementations of the claimed technology.
[0003] Tire wear is a critical factor influencing vehicle safety, performance, and fuel efficiency. Excessive tire wear can compromise traction, braking efficiency, and overall vehicle stability, posing significant , Claims:WE CLAIM:
1. A tire monitoring system (100) for a vehicle comprising a suspension system (200) and a plurality of tires where each tire (202) having a tire tread surface (204), characterized in that:
at least one infrared (IR) sensor (102) mounted on the suspension system (200) and in close proximity to a tire (202) to face a side profile (226) of the tire (202), wherein the at least one IR sensor (102) is configured to:
emit infrared light towards the tire tread surface (204); and
detect the emitted infrared light reflected from the tire tread surface (204);
a processing unit (104) operatively coupled to the at least one IR sensor (102), wherein the processing unit (104) is configured to:
analyze the detected infrared light to identify variations in reflection pattern of the infrared light caused by at least one change in the tire tread surface (204);
determine a tire tread wear value based at least on the identified variations in the reflection pattern;
compare the determined tire tread wear value to a pre
