Description:Field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to an education system. More particularly, the present invention relates to a system and a method for generating question paper.
Background of the invention
[0002] Generally, the traditional method of generating question papers have lot of challenges and limitations such as the selection of items is often limited which narrow down the variety and scope of questions. Also, the questions randomization is constrained to the pre-selected questions, diminishing its overall effectiveness. The existing method typically rely on a single individual to set the paper, limiting opportunities for collaboration and the integration of diverse expertise. Additionally, the complete paper being prepared in advance poses a significant risk of leaks or unauthorized access, jeopardizing the integrity of the exam.
[0003] Further, the setting up the question paper is a complex and is a time-intensive process which involving multiple steps, such as defining parameters, selecting question banks, assigning sections, configuring question, setting marking schemes, and verifying the paper summary. As setting up the question paper is an intensive process which lead to errors, thereby causing inefficiencies and delays in preparation of the question paper.
[0004] Additionally, administrators often struggle to ensure that exam papers align with the syllabus and academic requirements. The manual configuration of papers is mostly driven by individual preferences and syllabus mapping which can be both challenging and error prone. This may lead to inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the final question papers.
[0005] Therefore, there is a need for a system and a method for generating question paper which can overcome few or all the drawbacks of the existing prior art.

[0026] Referring now to figure 1, a system (100) for generating a question paper in accordance with the present invention is illustrated. The system (100) includes a first electronic device (10), a second electronic device (20) and a cloud server (30). The first electronic device (10) is having an administrator’s interface module (10a). The first electronic device (10) is a laptop. But it may be obvious a person skilled in the art to use any electronic device such as mobile, personal computer, Internet of things (IoT) device or the like. Specifically, the administrator’s interface module (10a) enables an administrator to enter parameters of a question paper to create a blueprint. In the present embodiment, the parameters for creating the blueprint may be a paper name, a paper code, a paper type, a duration, a total marks, a language, section requirements, paper delivery mode, a difficulty level, a topic and a combination thereof. It is obvious to a person skilled in the art to use any parameter for creating the blueprint which is necessary for the generation of the question paper. In the present embodiment, the parameters of the question paper are entered through a keyboard. It is obvious to a person skilled in the art to use any input device for entering the parameters for creating the blueprint. Also, the first electronic device (10) may be connected to a voice assistance device through a wireless connection for entering the parameters of the question paper to create the blueprint.
[0027] The second electronic device (20) is having a student’s interface module (20a). The student’s interface module (20a) enables a student to access the question paper. The student’s interface module (20a) is connected to the administrator’s interface module (10a) through a wireless connection. The second electronic device (20) is a laptop. But it may be obvious a person skilled in the art to use any electronic device such as mobile, personal computer, Internet of things (IoT) device or the like. In the present embodiment, the student accesses the question paper on a display (40b) and enters the answer through a keyboard. It is obvious to a person skilled in the art to use any input device for entering the answer.
[0028] Referring again to figure 1a, a cloud server (30) is having a cloud interface module (30a). The cloud server (30) is accessible by any electronic device of the authority. Specifically, in the present embodiment, the authority is a head of an institution. In an alternate embodiment, the authority may be any examination body, staff of the institution, a group of people from the institute and the like. The interface module (30a) is connected to the administrator’s interface module (10a) and the student interface module (20a) to establish a connection therebetween. The interface module (30a) is connected to a database (50). The database (50) is having prestored list of the subjects. Also, the database (50) stores the parameters of the question paper such as the paper name, the paper code, the paper type, the duration, the total marks, the language, the section requirements, the paper delivery mode, the difficulty level, the topic and the combination thereof. The interface module (30a) has a question bank. The question bank has prestored questions from each topic of the subject.
[0029] Referring to a figure 1b, the system (100) is configured as a website. The administrator’s interface module (10a) is having a set of administrator web pages (10c), and the student’s interface module (20a) is having a set of student web pages (20c). The set of administrator web pages (10c) and the set of student web pages (20c) are interactive web pages. Once the connection is established between the administrator’s interface module (10a) and the student interface module (20a), the administrator selects the parameters of the question paper for the subject to create the blueprint. Specifically, in the present embodiment, the subject is selected from the prestored list of the subjects for which the examination is held. In the present embodiment, the prestored subjects are in accordance with the course, an examination, a year and the like. for which the student is enrolled. The blueprint of the question paper is created and stored in the cloud server (30). Also, the blueprint may be displayed on a display (40a). Further, the question bank has a prestored questions from each topic of the subject. Once the blueprint is created, the administrator selects the prestored question bank to create a set of the question paper to enable the student to access the question paper. Specifically, the administrator selects the prestored question bank based on difficulty level, number of teaching hour required to complete the topic and the like.
[0030] Once the question paper is created, each question in the question paper is generated sequentially in real time without displaying the entire question paper to the student on the display (40b). In the present embodiment, the student attempts the first question once a first question is displayed on the display (40b). The student attempts a second question once a second question is displayed on the display (40b). Similarly, each question is displayed on the display (40b) one after the other question without displaying the entire question paper on the display (40b), thereby enabling the student to attempt the questions sequentially. Also, in the present embodiment, the student is not able to correct or amend the previously attempted question which prevents the student from any kind of cheating or fraud during the examination. Each generated question is random with a unique sequence for the student appearing in the examination. The question randomization is generated through an automated algorithm that dynamically selects and shuffles both questions and answer options for each test-taker. The system (100) selects questions from a pre-stored question bank, ensuring randomization at multiple levels —including question selection, order of appearance, and answer choices, which enhances the exam’s security and fairness while adhering to the blueprint’s predefined settings for questions distribution and difficulty levels.
[0031] For example, the administrator creates the blueprint for the multiple-choice questions (MCQ) for physics based upon the parameters such as the paper code, total marks form each topic, difficulty level, the number of teaching hours and the like.
[0032] The administrator creates the blueprint for the question paper having total marks of hundred which has three sections which is described below:
[0033] The first section includes ten multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of two marks each which results in a total of twenty marks. Specifically, the first section includes the questions which are normal in difficulty level.
[0034] A second section includes twenty multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of three marks each which results in a total of sixty marks. The second section is higher in difficulty level than the first section.
[0035] A third section includes five multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of four marks each which results in a total of twenty marks. The third section is highest in difficulty level than the first section and the second section.
[0036] Once the blueprint is created, the administrator selects the prestored question bank and creates the set of the question paper. For example, the question bank has the prestored questions from each topic such as heat, light and waves. The administrator randomly selects the prestored question bank from each topic (e.g. heat, light and waves) to create the set of question papers based on difficulty level, number of teaching hour required to complete the topic and the like the questions are selected randomly to generate the question paper.
[0037] Also, in another embodiment, the administrator may select the weightage or marks for the questions from each topic based upon the teaching hours. Specifically, the administrator may create the blueprint in which the weightage or marks for the questions is selected from the topic which required different time for an academician to complete the topic. For example, if the topic “heat” requires less time for the academician to complete, then the weightage or marks for the questions is selected from the topic “heat” is less. Also, if the topic “light” requires more time for the academician to complete, then the weightage or marks for the questions is selected from the topic “light” is more.
[0038] Further, the student appears in the examination for physics. Once the question paper is created, each question in the question paper is generated sequentially in real time without displaying the entire question paper to the student on the display (40b) In the present embodiment, the student attempts the first question once a first question is displayed on the display (40b). The student attempts a second question once a second question is displayed on the display (40b). Similarly, each question is displayed on the display (40b) one after the other question without displaying the entire question paper on the display (40b), thereby enabling the student to attempt the questions sequentially.
[0039] Referring now to figure 1c, illustrates another embodiment of the system (100) configured as a mobile application. The administrator’s interface module (10a) is having a first mobile application (10b) and the student module (20a) has a second mobile application (20b). The first mobile application (10b) and the second mobile application (20b) are connected through an internet connection on a common cloud server (30). The first mobile application (10b) and the second mobile application (20b) are connected through the interface module (30a). Upon establishing the connection between the first mobile application (10b) and the second mobile application (20b), the administrator selects the parameters of the question paper for the subject to create the blueprint.
[0040] Once the question paper is created, each question in the question paper is generated sequentially in real time without displaying the entire question paper to the student on the display (40b). Each generated question is random with a unique sequence for students appearing in the examination.
[0041] Referring now to figure 2, a method (200) for generating a question paper in accordance with the present invention is illustrated. The method (200) is explained in conjunction with the system (100) for the brevity of the invention.
[0042] The method (200) starts at step (210).
[0043] At step (220), parameters of a question paper for a subject are entered through an administrator’s interface module (10a). Specifically, the subject is selected from the prestored list of the subjects for which the examination is held. In the present embodiment, the prestored subjects are in accordance with the course, an examination, a year and the like. for which the student is enrolled. In the present embodiment, the parameters may be a paper name, a paper code, a paper type, a duration, a total marks, a language, section requirements, paper delivery mode, a difficulty level, a topic and a combination thereof. The parameters are stored in a database (50).
[0044] At step (230), a question bank is prestored on a cloud server (30). The question bank has prestored questions from each topic of the subject. An administrator selects the prestored question bank to create a set of the question paper to enable the student to access the question paper. Specifically, the administrator selects the prestored question bank based on difficulty level, number of teaching hour required to complete the topic and the like.
[0045] At step (240), a blueprint of the question paper is created through the administrator’s interface module (10a) based upon the entered parameters of the question paper. The blueprint is stored in a cloud server (30). Also, the blueprint may be displayed on a display (40a).
[0046] At step (250), the question paper is created for the selected subject based upon the blueprint.
[0047] At step (260), once the question paper is created, a student is allowed to access the question paper. Each question in the question paper is generated sequentially in real time without displaying the entire question paper. In the present embodiment, the student attempts the first question once a first question is displayed on the display (40b). The student attempts a second question once a second question is displayed on the display (40b). Similarly, each question is displayed on the display (40b) one after the other question without displaying the entire question paper on the display (40b), thereby enabling the student to select the questions sequentially. Also, in the present embodiment, the student is not able to correct or amend the previously attempted question which prevents the student from any kind of cheating or fraud during the examination. Each generated question is random with a unique sequence for the student appearing in the examination.
