Abstract: Title: “A METHOD FOR MONITORING A MULTI-ORIFICE FLUID-FILM THRUST BEARING AND A SYSTEM THEREOF” ABSTRACT The present disclosure relates to a method (10) and a system (20) for monitoring a 5 multi-orifice fluid-film thrust bearing (1). The method (10) includes receiving, by a control unit (5), a plurality of parameters of the fluid-film thrust bearing (1). The method (10) includes determining an effective orifice diameter, an effective thickness of the fluid-film (7), an orifice discharge coefficient, a mass flow rate, pressure distribution across each 10 of the runner race (3) and the stationary race (2). The method (10) further includes determining at least one of a bearing load capacity, an eccentric offset of center of pressure and a bearing moment, a bearing stiffness, a bearing reaction torque, and a power loss due to viscous heating of the fluid-film thrust bearing (1). The method (10) includes regulating 15 operation of the fluid-film thrust bearing (1), by varying at least one of the pluralities of the parameters. Figure 1c is representative figure.
