Abstract: ABSTRACT MANDREL FOR WINDING AN ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY Example mandrel (100) for being used in electrode assembly (400) is described. In an embodiment, the proposed mandrel (100) design 5 comprises a first rod (102) along with a second rod (104) both having a semi-circular cross-sectional area (102A,104A) in such a way that the second area is larger than the first. This design results in a portion of separator (usually S-shaped) being formed at the minor segment (412) of the core of the electrode assembly (400). In addition, the disclosed mandrel 10 (100) encompasses a pneumatic actuation assembly which applies a pressure through the second rod (104) to move the portion of separator towards the periphery of the core. 15 <> 17
