Platform Safety Guard For Moving Train On Platform To Prevent Passengers Falling Into Railway Track

Abstract: ABSTRACT : Some Passengers are arriving late to the Railway Station due to unexpected road traffic. When they noticed the train is departing , they try to catch the running train. A failure attempt may result in falling into the railway track and comes in contact with the rails, leads to body injuries , death. Though it is risk and dangerous, the human mind take decision to catch the train, because of their important programmes. So, to save the life of passengers, the present invention named “ Platform Safety Guard ” will solve the issue. When the train approach the platform, the Loco Pilot activate the OPEN control system , so that a metal plate assembly attached at the side bottom of the entire train on both sides will be open, which cover the gap between the train and platform edge . When the train left the platform completely, the Loco Pilot activate CLOSE control system , so that the metal plate assembly goes to the original / normal position. The present invention will prevent falling into the railway track, ensure the safety of the passengers.

Specification

Description: DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention safeguard the passengers falling into the track during boarding / de-boarding the moving train on the platform.

The Platform Safety Guard (PSG) system consists of Air compressor, main compressed air reservoir, auxiliary compressed air reservoir, metallic panel assembly, feed pipe, hose pipe and other supporting tools. A series of set of metallic panels are attached at the side bottom of the entire train on both sides. The metallic panels are made up of Iron / Aluminium with dimension approximately 60 cm – 100 cm length ,
20 cm – 30 cm breadth and 2 cm – 3 cm thickness with modification as required. The metallic panels capable of carrying a passenger with maximum weight around 100 kg.

Every coach is housed with the required number of metallic panels. For example, ICF coach with 24 compartment may have 23 metallic panels with 5 cm gap . One or two or three or four metallic panels are considered as a single unit as required. These units are activated using compressed air technology / hydraulic technology. This assembly is continued till the end of the train on both sides, because the platform may appear either left side or right side or both sides of the train.
The compressed air is generated and stored in a main reservoir. This compressed air is transferred to the coach auxiliary reservoir . When the train approach the platform, the LOCO PILOT activate the control button / lever ON position. The metallic assembly set moves upward direction (horizontal position) , covering the entire gap between the train and the platform edge throughout train.

When the train left the platform completely, LOCO PILOT activate the control button / lever OFF position. The metallic assembly set moves downward direction to come back its original position (vertical position).

This present invention provides a novel idea for safety of the passengers.
, Claims: I CLAIMS :

A system named “Platform Safety Guard” (PSG) for covering the gap between the train and the platform edge to prevent the passengers falling into the Railway Track during boarding / de-boarding the moving train on the platform to avoid railway track accidents, resulting body injuries or loss of hands, or loss of legs or death.

This system comprising :

(i) A series of metallic panel (plate) assembly set attached at the side bottom portion of the train on both sides on entire length of the train.
(ii) Air compressor / Hydraulic system
(iii) A Loco Pilot control system using ON / OFF Button or UP / DOWN Lever.
(iv) A compressed air pipe mechanism or hydraulic mechanism
(v) Hose pipe connecting the coaches and sealing at the last coach.
(vi) Other required setup to connect to the metallic panel assembly

2 A PSG system as in Claim 1 :
Where in metallic panel assembly consists of a series of metal panel through out the length of the train. One or two or three or four metallic panel form a single unit as required.

3 A PSG system as in Claim 1 :
Where in each metal panel made up of Iron / Aluminum with dimensions approximately 60 cm – 100 cm length , 20 cm – 30 cm breadth and 2 cm – 3 cm thickness with modification as required and sufficient to manage the passenger weight maximum around 100 kg. in case of slippage.

4 A PSG system as in Claim 1 :
Where in the metal panel use the Folding Technology / Sliding Technology / Gliding Technology / Swing Technology , in which is the most suitable can be used.

5 A PSG system as in Claim 1 :
Where in the metal panel is in Red color & red radium sheet (sticker) pasting / coating over the metal panel for visibility in the night times.

6 A PSG system as in Claim 1 :
Where in AIR COMPRESSOR ( Pneumatic system ) / HYDRALIC system can be used to operate the PSG system. We may use compressed air from the existing train brake system and modify the setup as required with the permission from the concerned authority.

7 A PSG system as in Claim 1 :
Where a Solenoid valve is used to activate the ON / OFF switch .
The Solenoid valve directs the compressed air to the pneumatic cylinder , causing it to move the metallic panel assembly set upwards and downwards.
