Abstract: The present invention relates to: a method for producing a non-human primate model of cerebral infarction, said method including administering an endothelin to the cerebral basal ganglia and thalamic area of a non-human primate and thus inducing cerebral basal ganglia damage, thalamic damage and internal capsule damage; and a pharmaceutical composition for treating subacute to chronic cerebral infarction, perforating branch infarction, or cerebral infarction with brain damage in the perforating branch dominant area, said pharmaceutical composition containing NeuroD1 protein or a polynucleotide encoding NeuroD1 protein.
