Abstract: This separation system comprises: a solid-liquid separation part in which impurities are removed by solid-liquid separation from a solution comprising both a PET solution including poly(ethylene terephthalate) dissolved in monomers resulting from decomposition of poly(ethylene terephthalate) and the impurities, which are components excluding poly(ethylene terephthalate); a retention part which retains the PET solution from which the impurities have been separated in the solid-liquid separation part and in which impurities are further separated from the PET solution by gravity; and a reaction part into which the PET solution from which the impurities have been separated in the retention part and a reaction solvent reacting with poly(ethylene terephthalate) are introduced and in which the poly(ethylene terephthalate) contained in the PET solution is depolymerized.
